Know your backbends! 💫 Backbending opens the front body, mobilizes the thoracic spine, and energizes the whole body-mind ✨ Three of these backbends—low cobra, sphinx, and upward dog—are common in the course of vinyasa flow and often offered as alternatives to each other, but they are distinct, with different alignment and benefits. It’s useful to know the differences and to be intentional about which backbend you’re choosing to take 🧘🏻♀️
