One of the biggest misconceptions about therapy is that you need to have everything figured out before you start.

You don't need the perfect explanation for what you're feeling. You don't need to know exactly what your goals are. You don't even need to be in a crisis.

Therapy is a place to explore, process, learn, and grow. Some days you'll have a lot to say. Other days you may not know where to start, and that's okay, too.

If you've been considering therapy but have been waiting until you feel "ready," this is your reminder that you don't have to have all the answers before reaching out.

If you're ready to take that first step, we're here to help.

What if the behavior you’re seeing isn’t the whole story?

Children don’t always have the words to communicate what they’re feeling. Sometimes what looks like defiance, attitude, avoidance, or disinterest may actually be frustration, anxiety, disappointment, overwhelm, or a need for connection.

Looking beyond a child’s behavior doesn’t mean ignoring boundaries or excusing inappropriate actions. It means taking a moment to consider what might be driving the behavior so we can respond in a way that teaches skills, supports emotional growth, and strengthens relationships.

A few reminders:
✔️ Validate feelings before problem-solving.
✔️ Get curious before jumping to conclusions.
✔️ Hold boundaries while maintaining connection.
✔️ Remember that behavior is often communication.

As parents and caregivers, we won’t always get it right, and that’s okay. The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is connection.

Which phrase from the post resonated most with you?

🌈 Pride Month is a reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and seen.

Research consistently demonstrates that LGBTQ+ individuals experience higher rates of anxiety, depression, and emotional distress; not because of who they are, but because of experiences like discrimination, rejection, and stigma (Frost, 2023; Lu et al., 2025).

The good news? Support makes a difference.

Research indicates that affirming relationships, inclusive communities, and access to compassionate mental health care can help foster resilience, improve wellbeing, and remind people that they don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone (McConnell et al., 2018).

At Vita-Cog Community Health, we believe healing begins when people feel understood and accepted for who they are.

💛 Because everyone deserves to feel seen.

Ever been curious about clinical hypnosis but unsure what it actually is? ✨

In this video, our clinician Annie Shapiro, RMHCI, shares more about clinical hypnosis, common misconceptions, and how this evidence-based modality can support mental health treatment in a safe and collaborative way.

Clinical hypnosis may help individuals work through concerns such as anxiety, stress, trauma, self-esteem, chronic pain, and more by promoting relaxation, focus, and deeper therapeutic processing.

If you’ve ever wondered:
• Can I be hypnotized?
• Will I lose control?
• What does hypnosis actually feel like?
• Is it like what I see in movies?

Annie is answering some of the most common questions and helping demystify the process. 💙
