'Tis the season of ticks and tick bites. Knowing how to best protect yourself is critical!

Make sure your repellents are EPA-approved. This means we know from research that the active ingredient works against ticks and how long it works. You can find these products at most stores in Maine. Always follow the label instructions and reapply when needed.

We've already been seeing patients with brown tail moth rashes and the TERRIBLE ITCHING that goes along with it. This a quick and easy read!

We will be discussing The Correspondent, by Virginia Evans.

This novel rose to the top of the New York Times' Fiction Best Seller List in February 2026. It also won the Hemingway Award for a debut novel, and has recevied widespread acclaim from critics.

Helpful information! Are you able to tell the difference?
Patients frequently find dog ticks on their bodies; thankfully dog ticks are not known to transmit Lyme disease.

Can you tell the difference between a deer tick and an American dog tick? Use the color and decoration on the shield on the back and body color to determine which tick you are dealing with. Learn more at www.maine.gov/lyme.
