Dr. Kayleigh earned her Doctorate of Acupuncture from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, and her Master’s of Science in Acupuncture degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York. Her graduate studies included a concentration in the application of acupuncture for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. Kay works extensively with patients in treating a wide array of muscu

loskeletal conditions causing acute and chronic pain. She integrates diagnostic measures to distinguish the precise cause of musculoskeletal pain, and utilizes a specific needling technique called Motor Point Therapy, also commonly called dry needling, which restores strength and function to the muscles, helping to prevent further weakness and imbalance. Dr. Kay is licensed in the State of New Jersey to practice acupuncture, and is nationally certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Dr. Kay also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The College of New Jersey, and it was her early studies in psychology and biopsychology that initially sparked her interest to pursue a career in acupuncture. After working with both adolescent and adult addicts, as well as women with eating disorders, Dr. Kay has become a big advocate of the integration of acupuncture in treatment programs for psychological disorders. In her own clinical experience, she has seen the amazing effect that acupuncture has in treating emotional and mental health, and strives to promote this awareness. Dr. Kay’s experience as a counselor in residential and out-patient facilities for people suffering from addiction, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders has provided a great foundation for her clinical practice in acupuncture, and integrates well with Traditional Chinese Medicine, which emphasizes the connection of mind, body, and spirit. Dr. Kay has trained extensively under Dr. Martha Lucas, L.Ac. in the Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture System, treatments for weight loss and fertility, and the Pulse Balancing System, for which she completed a year-long post-graduate internship. She incorporates this unique pulse taking technique to diagnose and effectively treat imbalances in both the pulse and body. The integration of the Pulse Balancing System enhances treatment for Cosmetic Acupuncture, weight loss, and fertility, and is an exceptional method to pinpoint and heal emotional distress. Dr. Kay has also trained with Shelly Goldstein, L.Ac. in Acu Facelift, Virginia Doran, L.Ac. in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, and Chrysso Neophytou-Tsimis, L.Ac. in Dr. Paul Adkin’s Facial Enhancement Acupuncture protocol. Dr. Kay has also trained with Peter Holmes in Aroma Acupoint Therapy, and integrates the use of essential oils with acupuncture treatment to treat a wide variety of emotional and physical conditions.

My girl was healthy three weeks ago. 🖤

Today I’m learning what grief does to an ADHD body - the way it lands with no filter, the way my actual chest hurts, the way there’s no bracing for it.

In Chinese medicine, grief lives in the Lungs, and when it’s this big it reaches the Heart, where the spirit lives. So the physical ache isn’t in my head. It’s the oldest map we have for exactly this kind of pain.

If you love an animal like they’re your child, you already understand. And if you have ADHD, you know we don’t get to feel things halfway.

I’m feeling all of this one. Because she was worth every bit of it. 🖤

Save this for the day you need permission to feel it fully. And if you’re grieving someone - two legs or four - tell me their name below. I’ll hold it with you. 👇

Moms with ADHD whose supplement routine is “buy it, feel hopeful, never touch it again”? Same. And I’m a doctor of acupuncture. 🙃

Quick breakdown, since I kept the video short:

☀️ Daily Harmony (AM) is an enhanced Xiao Yao San, “Free and Easy Wanderer,” one of the most-used formulas in Chinese medicine. It moves stuck Liver Qi: the irritability, the tension, the snapping over nothing, the “everything is too much.” An ADHD nervous system in overdrive looks a lot like that pattern. Elix adds adaptogens and mushrooms to support a frazzled stress response.

🌙 Yin Time (PM) is built on Suan Zao Ren Tang, a ~2,000-year-old formula for when Blood and Yin run low and the mind won’t settle: racing thoughts, wired-but-exhausted, eyes closed and brain on. That tired-but-wired insomnia so many of us know.

These don’t treat ADHD; it’s neurological. They support the TCM imbalances that ride alongside it and get overlooked in conventional care.

Why I’ll actually stick with them: barely any taste, undetectable in a drink, alcohol-free. For an ADHD brain, easy and tolerable is the whole ballgame.

I bought these before becoming an Elix ambassador, because I only partner with what I’d genuinely use.

Herbs aren’t one-size-fits-all. If you’re pregnant, nursing, or on meds, check with your provider first. Education, not a prescription.

That’s not a bad thing. That’s ADHD emotional regulation doing exactly what it does.

Here’s the thing about ADHD brains - we don’t get to feel things on a schedule. When the feelings are too big and the timing is wrong, the nervous system just… closes the door. Compartmentalizes. Gets through the day.

It’s not that I don’t feel this. I feel ALL of it. I just can’t afford to feel it right now because I have a full schedule of patients who deserve my whole presence today.

The door will open later. Probably at an inconvenient time. Probably in the car. Probably to a specific song. 🖤

If you have ADHD you know exactly what I mean.

Follow along - I’m talking about this a lot more as I step into my next chapter. And save this for the next time someone tells you that you seem fine. You’re not fine. You’re just very good at waiting.

👇 Tell me - what’s the thing you’re currently compartmentalizing?

A lot of ADHD women think they love wine.

What they actually love is relief.

If you’ve ever noticed that you feel calmer, more present, less irritable, or like your brain finally quiets down after a drink or two, you’re not imagining it.

There is a reason for that.

In Chinese Medicine, many ADHD women are walking around with significant Liver Qi stagnation. That stuck, tense, frustrated energy that builds up from running on an overstimulated nervous system all day long.

A drink can temporarily create movement. It can feel like an exhale after holding your breath all day.

From a Western perspective, alcohol can temporarily dampen an overactive sympathetic nervous system and give your brain a break from the constant noise.

The problem isn’t the occasional glass of wine.

The problem is when alcohol becomes the only thing your nervous system trusts to help you come down.

That’s when it’s time to build other tools that help your body feel safe, regulated, and supported.

I’m not an all or nothing practitioner.

Never have been.

I believe wellness should fit into real life.

Everything in moderation, including moderation.

Follow along for real world conversations about ADHD, hormones, stress, nervous system regulation, and how to get off the hamster wheel without striving for perfection. 💕

If your ADHD symptoms feel worse after having kids, you are not imagining it ❤️

Motherhood can place an incredible amount of stress on the nervous system. Add in broken sleep, hormone shifts, overstimulation, mental load, blood sugar crashes, and trying to care for everyone else before yourself… and of course things can start to feel harder.

That does NOT mean you’re lazy, failing, or “bad at life.”

For many women, ADHD symptoms are deeply connected to stress, hormones, sleep, nervous system regulation, and nutrition. Sometimes small supportive shifts like prioritizing protein, tracking your cycle, reducing overstimulation, and simplifying routines can make a huge difference.

Start small. Your body is giving you information, not proof that you’re failing 🤍

If discipline worked, ADHD women would have figured this out a long time ago.

We’ve already bought the planner.

Downloaded the meditation app.

Made the list.

Color-coded the list.

Lost the list.

And promised ourselves we’d “start fresh on Monday.”

The problem isn’t that you don’t care.

And it’s not that you’re lazy.

ADHD is not just a focus issue.

It’s a nervous system issue.

Many women with ADHD are walking around overstimulated, under-recovered, emotionally maxed out, and blaming themselves when they:

Procrastinate
Shut down
Can’t follow through
Snap at their kids
Feel overwhelmed by the smallest tasks

More pressure does not create more productivity.

When your nervous system is already fried, it creates shame, guilt, and the feeling that you’re somehow failing at life.

So instead of asking:

“How do I force myself to do more?”

Start asking:

“What does my brain need to feel safe enough to begin?”

That might look like:

Eating protein before coffee
Using acupuncture or acupressure
Reducing your commitments
Building simpler systems
Working with your brain instead of punishing it

You are not broken.

You are not lazy.

You may simply need tools designed for the ADHD nervous system.

Comment “CALM” if this resonated with you.

Sliding into your luteal phase like the Mom-Hulk “the Mulk” 💚
Beneath the soft exterior of every mother beats the heart of a hero… who has asked you to pick up your backpack four hundred times and is done.
Here’s what’s actually happening:
➡️ Your progesterone just dropped, your liver is overwhelmed, and your ADHD nervous system has exactly zero buffer left.
➡️ You’re not broken. You’re not a bad mom. You’re a woman with an under-supported stress response and a hormone crash.
➡️ The rage is a signal. Your liver is calling for help.
Drop a 💚 if you know this transformation personally. And follow for the tools that actually help - before the Mulk makes an appearance at dinner. 😉

If you are a stressed out woman with ADHD, here is why traditional wellness advice makes you feel like a failure.

➡️Chronic cortisol release suppresses dopamine synthesis. It also reduces dopamine receptor sensitivity. And it accelerates dopamine reuptake.

➡️If you have ADHD and you’ve been stressed for years, your brain is in a state where the chronic cortisol is actively making your ADHD worse.

➡️Your dopamine system is being suppressed by the very stress response your nervous system is stuck in.

➡️Traditional stress management advice like meditation, slow yoga, journaling, “just relax” - those things require the dopamine you don’t have to engage with them.

➡️Follow for nervous system regulation that actually makes a difference for ADHD women, so you can understand and stop blaming yourself!
