‘Tis the season when stiff and achy joints seem to bother us more than when it’s warm outside. What you’re feeling is actually a physiological response happening within your fascia. Colder temperatures and reduced daylight influence the nervous system, prompting shifts in hormone levels. These changes affect fascial tension, tissue repair, and fluid dynamics. When we give in to the urge to hibernate and don’t move as much as we usually do, that discomfort only intensifies.

So what can help? Try prioritizing heat and hydration from the inside out: think sauna sessions, warm baths, myofascial release, and slow, intentional movement. These inputs help rehydrate the extracellular matrix, soften cross-links, and restore circulation to areas that tighten in the cold. And above all—keep moving. Whether indoors or outside, resist the pull of dreary days that make the couch a little too inviting.

I’m coming up on my 1-year anniversary, the day I started my practice with one simple belief —
people deserve to feel truly seen and understood in their healing.

Too often, patients come to me feeling frustrated, unheard, or told that their pain is “just in their head.” But I know pain is real — even when it’s hard to pinpoint or seems to move from one area to another.

That’s why I’ve chosen a different path as a physical therapist. Instead of focusing only on where it hurts, I look deeper — at the fascial and neurological connections that link every part of the body. Using Fascial Counterstrain, I can help release tension patterns that often start far from where the pain shows up.

It’s gentle work, but it can create profound change — physically, emotionally, and even energetically.

I serve people of all ages, activity levels, and abilities — anyone who’s ready for a more individualized, evidence-based, and compassionate approach to care.

Because real healing isn’t about forcing the body to comply — it’s about listening to it, understanding it, and helping it find its way back to balance. 🤍

If you’ve been searching for answers or feel like something’s been missed in your care, know that there are still other ways forward — ways that honor your whole story.

🔬 After spinal cord injury, astrocytes can become reactive—changing shape and function. While this can sometimes form a “glial scar,” it also protects healthy tissue and limits further damage. It’s a delicate balance scientists are still working to understand.
⁣
🧪 Fascial Counterstrain employs specific positional treatments to modulate spinal cord function and reduce astrocytic inflammation. Enhancing astrocyte performance supports neuroimmune regulation, promoting the body’s innate capacity for repair and self-maintenance.💫
