When working with my clients on their core issues, I begin by asking them, “What happened to you?”, instead of, “What’s wrong with you?”, because I believe that once we know someone’s story, we can began to understand how we arrived at the point of crisis. Left untreated, past traumas can fester, and unfortunately these traumas often resurface later in life in ways that may seem unrelated: anxiety, depression, and addiction. When life becomes unmanageable, even the strongest and most resilient among us may need someone to come alongside us and help us sort through our stories. And once we sort through and understand our stories, we become empowered to start writing new and better ones…
