Everyone in health care matters.
PAs and NPs are all extraordinarily important. Without them, patients couldn't get the care they need and deserve.
But this term 'provider' is confusing to patients. When they hear it, they often assume who they're speaking with is a physician, when in reality, they aren't.
That doesn't mean who they're speaking with isn't qualified to be there, but the perception that an NP or PA is equivalent to physician takes away much of what it means to be a doctor.
Our differences are what makes us work well together, and simple things like using the term 'provider' for a physician is an easy way to show that a team is helping that patient, and there's someone leading that team to provide the best care.
