Friday evening, while fellow St. Louis Cardinals fans gathered at the ballpark to enjoy America’s pastime, our Crisis Counseling ShowMeHope team consisting of Jaslynn Ware and Teresa Culton was there with a different purpose: to remind our community that hope is still here.

More than a year after the May 2025 tornado, individuals and families are still navigating what their new normal looks like. The immediate crisis may have passed, but the need for healing, connection, and support remains.

And so, we keep showing up. Because ministry happens wherever people are.

It happens in our programs, in our neighborhoods, on the streets, and yes, even at the ballpark on a Friday evening game. It happens through a conversation, a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or simply the reassurance that you are not alone.

Our faith calls us to meet people where they are and to be the hands and feet of Christ in a hurting world.

We may not always know the impact of a simple conversation or a moment of presence, but we trust that God can use every encounter to plant a seed of hope.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and all those whose lives were forever changed by the attacks.

We honor the courage and selflessness of the first responders, service members, ordinary citizens, and countless others who ran toward those in need. We remember the families who lost loved ones and all who continue to carry the wounds of that day.

As people of faith, we entrust those who died to God's loving mercy and pray for all who mourn. We also pray for our nation and for peace in our world.

May we never forget. May we continue to choose compassion, unity, and love of neighbor.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. 🇺🇸

Today, we give thanks for the dignity of work and for the countless people whose labor strengthens our families, communities, and country.

In a special way, we look to St. Joseph the Worker, who reminds us that our daily work, whether seen by many or known only to God, can be an expression of love, service, and human dignity.

At Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, we are especially grateful for our coworkers whose work each day brings the healing, help, and hope of Jesus Christ to our neighbors throughout the Archdiocese.

This Labor Day, we pray for all workers, for those seeking meaningful employment, for those whose work goes unseen or unrecognized, and for all who labor to provide for the people they love.

Happy feast day to the patron saint of our city!

Happy Feast of St. Louis!

Today, we celebrate St. Louis IX, King of France and patron saint of both our city and Archdiocese.

More than 750 years after his death, St. Louis is remembered not simply as a king, but as a man who sought to put his Catholic faith into action. His kingship was not defined by jewels and revelry, but by service; he viewed his leadership as an opportunity to serve.

Here in the city that bears his name, his example still speaks to us.

At Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, we recognize the dignity of every single person and put our faith into action by serving those in need with a compassionate, caring presence.
