Check on those that keep their phone on DND. A few weeks had passed since I last talked to my friend. Normally I wouldn’t care, because people just want their space. Thing is this wasn’t like her. We have gone days, heck even a week, but never this long. So I decide to call, but she doesn’t answer. This kept nagging at me so I just did a pop up. When I made it to her house I seen her car in the driveway. So I knew she was home. I knocked on the door, but no answer. Then I knocked again. She finally cracked it open. I’m like “hey boo you good. No call or text m. You still alive right lol.” I just made a lil joke. She didn’t smile or anything and just walked away from the door. So I let myself in. Once inside the horrid smell h i t me. Then i looked around and it was just a huge mess. I made it to my friend room and she was just cozied up. I sat beside her and asked was she ok. She looked at me and just bust out crying saying she can’t do this thing called life anymore and she’s just tired. She went on for a while and i just let her vent. I didn’t question her or anything. I just held and rocked my baby. After that I got up and deep cleaned her whole house, made her a dinner for at least 3 days, and left her a note saying. “I’m just one call away, one drive away, one walk away. I will come. Remember that. Laying beside the note I placed 250 dollars and told her just get her some snacks or drinks or whatever. And after that I left.

If an intense loss has erupted in your life, one thing you'll hear often is "you're not alone."⁣ And that isn't really true.⁣

No matter how many times they say "I love you," no matter how well they do love you, no one can "do" grief with you. No one can enter into your true mind and heart and be there with you. That's true even if they've had a loss similar to yours.⁣

Finding others who have shared a similar pain shows you those people who understand just how alone you are.⁣

No one can enter the deepest heart of grief. We here, even the ones who know this magnitude of pain, we are not there with you. That is yours alone.⁣

Our hearts have held great, great sorrow. We can be there for each other. As our words knock on the doors of each other's hearts, we become way stations for each other.⁣

Together, we recognize each other, and bow to the pain we see.⁣

The truth is, also: you are not alone.⁣
