Happy Labor Day from AMCMA!

While we prepare to celebrate the long weekend, our pets are ready to put in some serious work too… mostly in the areas of napping, snacking, and supervising the BBQ. 😎

A few Labor Day reminders: Keep pets away from the grill and hot surfaces, make sure they don’t sneak any table scraps that could be harmful, keep alcohol and other party foods out of reach, and give your pet a quiet space if the festivities get overwhelming.

What is SNIP?

Our Spay/Neuter Incentive Program (SNIP) helps make spay/neuter surgeries more affordable for Missouri pet owners. SNIP is available at both AMCMA locations! Thanks to the generosity of our donors and grant partners, we’re able to help more pets get the care they need at an affordable cost.

SNIP helps prevent unwanted litters while making these important procedures more accessible for families in our community. ❤️

Saturday Spotlight: Sushi! 🐾

At 13 years old, Sushi came to AMCMA with some slight mobility issues. Her family thought she might simply be slowing down with age, but her radiographs revealed she had megacolon, a condition where the colon becomes severely enlarged and is no longer able to function properly.

Our team performed a subtotal colectomy surgery, removing the enlarged affected portion of her colon to give Sushi the best chance at returning to a more normal, comfortable life. 💙

Her story is a great reminder that changes in your pet’s behavior or mobility shouldn’t always be chalked up to getting older. Sometimes, they can be signs of an underlying condition that needs attention. Sushi is back home, recovered, and back to living her best life!
