Lauren Murphy Recovery Page To share Lauren's miraculous ongoing recovery! From being hit by a car and left with little hope, to inspiring thousands with her comeback story.

Lauren suffered severe head trauma as a result of being struck by a car while on a run in Los Angeles the morning of Friday April 19, 2013. Lauren was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood immediately following the incident undergoing an emergency labectomy to remove a portion of the front left lobe of her brain as well as surgery to extract a portion of her skull to relieve pressure and allow the brain to swell. At this point, her status is described as extremely critical but stable. Follow along with this page where we will post updates from status and additional information about fundraising events, prayer services, etc.

We had fun speaking at the Uplift & Inspire Conference in Lubbock, Texas.! We loved sharing our story, meeting wonderful people, and being surrounded by so much inspiration. Thank you for welcoming us with open arms!
And then there’s the last picture…
Before heading home, Lauren and I laid out our clothes the night before and packed everything else up. We had adjoining hotel rooms, so we got dressed separately, and didn’t realize we picked the same color. We grabbed our bags and hurried out the door.
It wasn’t until we got to our gate at the airport that we realized Dave was also wearing the same color. We were running late as usual and rushed through the airport looking like a bunch of weirdos. U&I Conference

This week is flying by! We’re grateful for new opportunities and new challenges. We don’t believe in plateaus, onward and upward! NeuroAnimation - The Brain Regained

Today Lauren started an intensive three-week program at NeuroAnimation in New Albany, Ohio. The goal is to challenge her brain in new ways, using repetition, movement, technology and some pretty amazing virtual reality to help build and strengthen new neural connections.

We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited to see what the next three weeks bring.

Here’s a little peek at Day 1 in the virtual reality room! NeuroAnimation - The Brain Regained

Earlier this week, Lauren and I had the privilege of spending the morning with an amazing group of future healthcare professionals at Mizzou’s College of Health Sciences!

We love sharing Lauren’s story with these students, therapists have played such a HUGE role in her recovery.

It’s great to stand in front of students just beginning their journey into healthcare and hopefully give them a small glimpse of the difference they can make.

Thank you, Mizzou, for welcoming us once again (this was our 5th year) To all those future healthcare professionals: we can’t wait to see the difference you make!

Many of you know that our family has walked the long road of recovery after a traumatic injury. Because of that, stories like Alyssa's hit especially close to home.
Alyssa is the daughter of my son-in-law's cousin, and our hearts are breaking for her family as they begin this unexpected journey.
Please take a moment to read and share this post. Most importantly, please keep Alyssa, her parents Jake and Stephanie, and her brother Lucas in your prayers.
We know firsthand that recovery takes a village. The love, prayers, encouragement, and support of a community can make all the difference during the difficult days ahead.
If you are able, please consider donating to Alyssa's GoFundMe to help her family focus on what matters most,Alyssa's healing and recovery.
Thank you for lifting this family up.

A few snapshots from a keynote earlier this year, taken after we spoke. We’re always so grateful when clients bring in photographers, it’s a gift to have these moments captured. Walker sure is handsome!

Last night, several Murphys (missing a few) attended the Brain Injury Foundation of St. Louis (BIFSTL) gala.
John O’Leary was the guest speaker, and as expected, incredible. Lauren is standing next to John in the first photo.
Both miracles defied the odds, not just because of their determination, and grit, but because people showed up for them in ways we could have never imagined, friends, family, strangers, celebrities, and an entire community.
Grateful for BIFSTL and a fun night out.inspires

We are honored to have been invited by Ametros to speak at their conference at Disney to share Lauren’s story.

Grateful for the opportunity, the amazing audience and the generous hospitality, including a little Disney magic in the parks.

I think Walker may have given Pluto a run for his money. Walker was by far the cutest dog in the park. (Sorry we made you wear Mickey ears and pose for a gazillion photos Walker)🐕‍🦺
