💧 Sometimes the biggest difference in caring for someone living with dementia starts with something as simple as offering a drink.

In Week 3 of our Mealtime Success Series, we're sharing five simple, person-centered strategies to help someone living with dementia stay hydrated—especially during the warm summer months.

From keeping drinks visible and building hydration into daily routines to offering foods with high water content and using gentle encouragement, these practical tips can help reduce the risk of dehydration while preserving dignity and independence.
Remember, staying hydrated isn't about drinking a certain amount all at once—it's about creating small, consistent opportunities throughout the day.

💙 Which hydration tip has worked best for your family? We'd love to hear your ideas in the comments.

🍽️ Sometimes the biggest improvements at mealtime come from the smallest changes.

In Week 2 of our Mealtime Success Series, we're sharing four simple, person-centered strategies to help make mealtimes calmer, easier, and more enjoyable for someone living with dementia.

From creating a peaceful environment and extending a welcoming invitation to removing small obstacles and using gentle cues, these practical tips can help preserve dignity, encourage independence, and reduce frustration for everyone at the table.

Remember, a successful meal isn't about finishing every bite—it's about helping your loved one feel comfortable, respected, and supported.

📖 Read the blog here: https://dementialife.care/four-simple-ways-to-create-mealtime-success/

💜 Which of these strategies will you try first? We'd love to hear what has worked for your family.

One year ago, we had the privilege of meeting an amazing person- Charlie Buss. 💜

Many people know Charlie as the creative force behind our social media, flyers, and educational handouts - but she is so much more than a designer. She helps keep our message moving forward, brings fresh ideas to the table, offers thoughtful input, and is often the one sending encouragement during those late-night moments when there’s still work to be done.

Most importantly, Charlie has a genuine heart for people living with dementia and the families who love and care for them. That compassion shines through in everything she creates and every hour she gives.

Charlie, thank you for your countless hours, your creativity, your encouragement, and your unwavering belief in our mission. Because of you, we’re able to reach and support even more families with hope, education, and practical tools.

We love and appreciate you more than words can say. Happy one-year anniversary of being part of the Dementia Life STL family! 💜

🍽️ Mealtimes can become one of the most challenging parts of the dementia journey—but understanding why eating changes can help us respond with greater compassion and confidence.

This week, we're kicking off our Mealtime Success Series by exploring why eating becomes more difficult as dementia progresses. Our latest blog explains how changes in the brain can affect hunger, food recognition, focus, and the ability to eat—and offers practical, person-centered strategies to create calmer, more successful mealtimes.

If you've ever wondered why a loved one suddenly says, "I'm not hungry," only wants sweets, or refuses a favorite meal, you're not alone. Small changes in our approach can make a meaningful difference.
