🏫 Parent Presentations Available

WCPA offers grade-level parent presentations to the parish schools, private schools, PSRs, and parishes within the St. Louis Archdiocese. These presentations:

* Are geared toward parents in Catholic schools and PSR programs and consistent with Catholic faith and teachings

* Are generally one hour long, usually provided in the early evening, with time allotted at the end for questions from parents

* Address issues faced at that specific developmental age

* Can be scheduled by a single school at its convenience or by a group of schools coming together to host the presentation

These presentations are currently scheduling for the 2026-2027 school year:

Kindergarten

Kindergarten: First Steps to Independence

This presentation addresses the issues faced by parents of a new kindergarten student, such as child development at age 5/6, separation anxiety, using healthy boundaries, and appropriate parental involvement with the school. Parents are encouraged to allow their child to make age-appropriate choices, experience school life, and become more independent.

3rd/4th grade

Entering the Middle Grade Years: Building on Success

This presentation addresses issues that parents at this stage specifically need, such as brain and social development at age 8/9, social changes, the need for homework independence, and smart early choices with technology. Supporting the school’s rules and expectations is emphasized.

Middle School

Middle School Conversations

Today’s middle school years are fraught with choices and challenges that simply didn’t exist a generation ago. This presentation is specifically geared to help parents as they navigate these new, deep waters. Four conversations – drug and alcohol experimentation, stress and mental health, sexual pressures, and safe online choices – are included, and parents are given strategies for approaching their kids with these critical conversations.

If you or a loved one receive mental health care at West County Psychological Associates (WCPA), here is an essential reminder regarding your coverage:

Traditional Medicare Accepted: WCPA continues to accept Traditional Medicare for therapy and mental health services.

Medicare Advantage Not Covered: We do not participate in Medicare Advantage plans. Switching to a Medicare Advantage network means therapy services at WCPA will no longer be covered under your plan.

Navigating Medicare choices can feel overwhelming. For unbiased, expert guidance during open enrollment, we recommend connecting with Missouri SHIP (formerly Medicare CLAIM). https://www.missouriship.org/

🌟 Psychoeducational Testing Available 🌟

At WCPA, we offer a wide range of testing services tailored to fit individual needs. We serve children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults.

Psychoeducational evaluations help identify the presence of ADHD, learning disabilities including Dyslexia, and/or other mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and Autism, that can impact the educational environment. Psychoeducational evaluation may aid in obtaining appropriate educational interventions and/or accommodations for a student.

At WCPA:

Short wait times are usually available, and timely feedback on results is provided to families. Families and schools can get the answers they need, without a lengthy wait.

Services are private pay Many families are able to receive reimbursement from their health insurance at out-of-network rates or use their HSA funds.

Schools are included and respected WCPA testing clinicians always seek to include teachers and other school professionals in the psychoeducational testing process. We sincerely appreciate teachers' time and effort, and take their feedback very seriously during the evaluation process.
