Did you know that August is National Breastfeeding Month and the first week of August is recognized as World Breastfeeding Week??
Last year was the first year we were able to host an event in Mecosta County.
I am not able to host the event this year in Mecosta. However, I am still hosting the event over in the City of White Cloud in Newaygo County.
If you are interested in attending this event, here is the information.

🍂 Are you pregnant and have a Fall due date? I have openings! 🍂

If you’re expecting this fall, I’d love to connect with you! Whether this is your first baby or your fifth, having a doula by your side can make a world of difference throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum season.

As your doula, I provide evidence-based education, emotional encouragement, physical comfort measures during labor, and unwavering support for both you and your partner. My goal is to help you feel informed, confident, and empowered to make the decisions that are right for your family.

And the support doesn’t end once your baby arrives. During postpartum I help you navigate recovery, newborn adjustments, breastfeeding, and the emotional transition into parenthood.

These babies that are supposed to be planned cesarean births keep deciding they have plans of their own! 💕

This mama was scheduled for a repeat cesarean later this month, but baby girl had other ideas. Her water broke, and before long they were headed to the hospital to meet their little one.

Birth doesn’t always follow the plan we carefully make, and unexpected changes can bring up memories and fears from previous experiences. But this mama was incredibly brave. We took time to breathe together, talk through those fears, and create a calm, grounded space before she was wheeled back for surgery.

And then… baby girl made her entrance—loud, strong, and letting everyone know she had arrived! There is nothing quite like hearing that first cry!

Mom and baby are both recovering well and baby girl continues to show just how ready she was to be earthside.

Congratulations to this beautiful family—it was such an honor to walk alongside you and welcome your precious little girl into the world. 🤍

✨ Resource Highlight: Life Resources of Northern Michigan ✨

Today I had the privilege of touring Life Resources of Northern Michigan in Big Rapids, and I am so grateful for the incredible work they are doing for families in our community.

As a doula, I love connecting families with resources that educate, empower, and support them—and Life Resources is exactly that. Whether you’ve just found out you’re pregnant or are simply looking for guidance and support, they offer a welcoming place where you’ll be met with compassion and care.

They provide free pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, and over 300 classes covering pregnancy, childbirth, parenting, life skills, and even classes just for dads! One of my favorite parts is that families earn points for attending classes, which can be used in their boutique for baby essentials like diapers, clothing, car seats, cribs, and so much more.

Walking through their cozy space and meeting their caring staff reminded me how important it is that no family has to navigate pregnancy or parenthood alone. We are so blessed to have a resource like this right here in our community.

Yes! Your bottom instinctively relaxes on the toilet, which is great to encourage cervical change! And an empty bladder makes more space for baby to descend…. And a full bladder can cause contractions to feel more intense!

The toilet isn’t just for bathroom breaks—it’s often the dilation station. 🚽✨ Relaxed muscles, gravity, and privacy can make it one of labor’s most productive places. Did you use this tool in your labor?

Birth can be incredibly healing and redemptive, and this birth was exactly that for this mama.

While her journey began with an induction—something that wasn’t part of her original birth plan—she approached every decision with knowledge, confidence, and strength. She took the time to understand her options, weigh the benefits and risks, and advocate for what mattered most to her.

She trusted her body, listened to her instincts, and breathed her baby down with remarkable strength and grace. In fact, baby was almost born en caul—a truly special moment.

This mother is stronger than she knows, and it was an honor to witness her courage and determination throughout her labor and birth.
