This Week's Wellness Win!

At Americare Wellness isn't a program - it's a way of life. Through Flourish Wellness, we create opportunities for residents to live with vitality, meaning, and personal fulfillment at every age and ability level.

Dimension of Wellness: Intellectual, Environmental and Social

Activity: Residents were able to experience the Great Divide Mountain Bike Ride with Cooper Snell, grandson of resident Anne Snell McDonald.

Story: Traveling can be very difficult or even impossible for our residents. They love getting to see photographs, videos and hear about others trips and adventures!
Cooper had a power point presentation of his biking experience and was able to tell so many stories about places he went thru and people he met! It was also interesting to hear about the ups and downs of the trip and how he got thru them. He may not know that his grandmother had a lot of people praying for him!
Residents also had questions about logistics, eating, sleep and the list goes on. Last but not least, we wanted to know what his next adventure will be!! He's not sure yet!

This Week's Wellness Win!

At Americare Wellness isn't a program - it's a way of life. Through Flourish Wellness, we create opportunities for residents to live with vitality, meaning, and personal fulfillment at every age and ability level.

Dimension of Wellness: Emotional, Social and Intellectual.

Activity: Homemade ice cream, homemade pound cake and recipe reminiscing!

Residents love to talk about homemade ice cream and their mother or grandmother's pound cake. While they were enjoying their homemade goodies they were sharing recipes and memories! It sounds like it was a lot of hard work! They would cut up fresh fruits and even candy bars, then they had to crank it by hand! They agreed it was fun when they were little since everyone wanted a turn!
The warm pound cake sparked a lot of memories and recipe talk too. This was definitely a tasty afternoon treat!
Remember to take opportunities to share memories with your loved ones! It doesn't have to be complicated.

It was a perfect afternoon for a frozen treat! We even discovered some fun facts about Mississippi State Ice Cream and other products they have available. Several residents are ready to take a trip to the MAFES store!

Dr. Webb, Optometrist, from Starkville Eye Clinic, spoke with residents, family and staff this afternoon. She covered several topics such as; cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eyes, retina issues, eye vitamins and eye drops. She also gave us some helpful tips to help with dry eyes.

Thank you Meadowview Baptist Church for making FAMILY NIGHT lots of fun!
Brother Casey Hughes and several church members made our residents, families and staff feel special!
They grilled hamburgers, hotdogs and provided homemade desserts for everyone. They even insisted on helping clean, take out the garbage and even had 2 members racing to find the vacuum cleaner!
It was a little chaotic at times, but sometimes a little chaos turns out to be fun!
God is truly shining His light thru your church! Thank you 😊

This Week's Wellness Win!

At Americare Wellness isn't a program - it's a way of life. Through Flourish Wellness, we create opportunities for residents to live with vitality, meaning, and personal fulfillment at every age and ability level.

Dimension of Wellness: Emotional, Social, Intellectual

Activity: Men's Time

Story: We have 6 men at Montgomery Gardens. These men deserve some special attention since they are surrounded by 26 women everyday!

"Men's Time" is so important! It provides socialization, fosters friendships and helps retain a sense of purpose and identity.
For "Men's Time" this week they enjoyed Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches together and Mr. Woody and Big John even joined in!
Mr. Roy Sanders started their meal off with a blessing. It was great to see them smiling and talking, even though it was quiet while they were eating!
We are thankful that these men are a part of our Montgomery Gardens FAMILY!
