25 years later, the health effects of 9/11 are still being felt. 🫁

For many responders, survivors, residents, workers, and others exposed to the WTC dust and debris, respiratory symptoms and disease can persist for decades.

The exposure history still matters.
Remember the exposure. Recognize the symptoms. Continue to care.

❤️ We remember those we lost. We continue to care for those affected.

Never Forget. 🇺🇸

“Every year we hear: ‘I got the flu right after my flu shot!’ But the flu vaccine cannot give you influenza. You may have been exposed before vaccination, caught another respiratory virus, or experienced a normal immune response. 💉🫁

Have questions about the flu vaccine? Talk with your healthcare provider — especially if you have a chronic lung condition.

Don’t let a common misconception keep you from protecting your lungs this flu season.”

HOW NOT TO USE YOUR INHALER 🚨

Your inhaler is medicine… not perfume, a magic wand, or a musical instrument 😂💨

Swipe 👉 to see some of the most common inhaler mistakes — and learn how to get the most out of your medication.

❌ Holding it too far away
❌ Inhaling at the wrong time
❌ Taking puffs back-to-back
❌ Taking tiny breaths
❌ Using it like perfume 😂
❌ Forgetting to exhale first

💡 Proper technique matters! Even the right medication may not work as well if your inhaler technique is off.

☀️ COPD doesn’t take a summer vacation! 🫁🌴

Hot, humid weather, poor air quality, dehydration, and overexertion can make breathing more difficult for people living with COPD.

A few simple steps can help you enjoy the season while protecting your lungs:
💧 Stay hydrated
🌡️ Avoid extreme heat
🌫️ Check the AQI
💊 Take your medications as prescribed
🧴 Protect yourself from the sun
🫁 Listen to your body and pace yourself

Asthma & Pregnancy 🤰🫁

Pregnancy can change asthma symptoms — some people improve, some stay the same, and others may notice worsening symptoms.

The good news? Well-controlled asthma is compatible with a healthy pregnancy. 💗

✨ Key points:
• Don’t stop your asthma medications without speaking with your healthcare provider.
• Inhaled asthma medications are commonly used during pregnancy when clinically indicated.
• Keeping asthma controlled helps maintain healthy oxygen levels for both mom and baby.
• Avoid known triggers such as smoke, allergens, and respiratory infections.
• Keep your prenatal and asthma follow-up appointments.
• Seek medical attention if symptoms worsen, your rescue inhaler isn’t providing usual relief, or you’re having significant difficulty breathing.

Breathe well. Mom well. Baby well. 🌸

Always discuss your individual asthma treatment plan with your OB/GYN and pulmonary specialist.

💉🫁 National Immunization Awareness Month

Vaccines can be an important part of protecting your lungs—especially if you have asthma, COPD, emphysema, or another chronic lung condition.

Flu, pneumococcal disease, RSV, and other respiratory infections can sometimes lead to serious illness, hospitalization, or worsening of underlying lung disease.

❤️ And if you have questions or concerns about vaccines, that’s okay.
Understanding the benefits, possible side effects, and whether a vaccine is right for you is an important part of making an informed decision.

Your age, medical history, previous vaccines, and risk factors all matter.

🫁 Protect your lungs. Stay informed. Talk with your healthcare provider about which vaccines are recommended for you.
