🩷 Our Father-and-Daughter fundraiser dance, hosted in conjunction with the Iredell Council on Aging, was a huge success!

Held at the Iredell Senior Center, it was a wonderful intergenerational party featuring fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, father figures, and their beautiful dates – adorned in sequins, satin, sparkles, and ribbons. 🎀

It was a heartwarming event, full of music, laughter, food, and exuberant dancing! Our special thanks to the generous sponsors who made it possible, including Ray & Katherine Englebert, Carolina SeniorCare - Lexington, NC, EveryAge, Knight Senior Advisors, and Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital. 💝

Proceeds from the event benefit programs serving older adults through the Iredell Council on Aging and Iredell Adult Day Services.

🖊 We like to send personal notes when we receive donations of materials for IADS. Sometimes, though, items are delivered directly from the vendor, and we never know who they're from. No address, no name, no attribution.

💜 If you've sent supplies anonymously, we want to acknowledge your kindness and offer our sincere thanks. It means so much to our staff that so many neighbors and friends support our efforts at IADS. We're humbled and grateful for what you've contributed, and we appreciate your thoughtfulness in allowing us to do good things in the community.

🤔 Can you help? We're running low on a few basic supplies and would be grateful if you're able to help replenish some of our necessities. Your donations go a long way toward keeping our participants engaged, active, and in a clean environment. Here's what we're in need of most immediately:

• Paper towels
• Clorox wipes
• Fabuloso cleaner
• Pine-Sol cleaner
• Bleach
• Kleenex
• 20 # copy paper

Today, we remember the fight against tyranny that led our forebears to establish a new and free nation. We celebrate our hard-won independence and our shared belief "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, [and] that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

🚐 Last week, we took a much-anticipated field trip to Patterson Farm Market & Tours, Inc.!

🌧 Just as we arrived, a downpour compelled us to change our plans slightly, but we waited it out! Skipping an open-air picnic, we enjoyed our lunch in a covered area, and the food was just as good!

By the time we finished, the skies were clear, so we took a wagon ride around the farm and saw all of the sights, especially a selection of farm animals, including cows, goats, chickens, pigs, ducks, and peacocks, and all the produce they grow, such as tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, and eggplant. 🐖 🍅

It was a great excursion, and we loved getting back to nature on the farm! 👨‍🌾

🎉 Happy Juneteenth! Each year, June 19, or Juneteenth, recalls the date in 1865 when all enslaved African-Americans in the US were made aware of the Emancipation Proclamation and were officially released from their bonds – some two years after President Abraham Lincoln had initially signed the proclamation.

🗽 Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021 when President Biden signed it into law. Celebrations include picnics, rodeos, street fairs, cookouts, family reunions, park parties, historical reenactments, and blues festivals. 🧡

🎉 National Nursing Assistant Week, or CNA Week, wrapped up yesterday, and we were delighted to share our heartfelt appreciation with our staff throughout our EveryAge locations!

🩺 Our CNAs work tirelessly every day, providing compassionate care, support, and comfort to residents and participants. We're grateful for all they do, whether it's helping with personal hygiene, monitoring vital signs, serving meals, or helping residents and participants with mobility.

We appreciate their dedication and hard work year-round. They truly are unbelievable! 💙

🫶 Our participants love being together at the day center, but sometimes, everybody just wants a change of pace. So, last Friday, we decided that we needed a treat, and we made an impromptu trip to Wendy's! Everyone cooled off with a Frosty, and we had a great time with lots of camaraderie and plenty of laughs! 🧋

🩷 The details are in! Our Father-and-Daughter fundraiser dance, hosted in conjunction with the Iredell Council on Aging, will take place Saturday, June 27, from 6-8pm. It will be held at the Iredell Senior Center and is open to father figures of all kinds and to daughters of all ages.

🎟 Tickets are $20 per couple and can be purchased at www.iredellcoa.org. For additional information, reach out to Jennifer at 704-873-5171, x100. We'll see you there!
