Healing isn’t instant—it’s a process.

The nervous system heals slowly, like a garden growing. It needs space, patience, and repetition—not pressure or force. 🌿

At Elston Psychotherapy, we support you in creating the conditions for steady, meaningful growth at your own pace.

Ways Trauma Bonding Can Show Up in Relationships 💔➡️❤️

Trauma bonds often form when love and pain become intertwined, activating old attachment wounds and making it hard to step back or see things clearly.

You might notice:
• Hot and cold behavior that keeps you craving connection
• Feeling relief after pain, deepening the bond
• Intense emotional highs that feel like closeness
• Confusing love with survival or emotional safety
• Explaining away or minimizing harm

These patterns are not signs of weakness—they’re patterns your nervous system has learned over time.

Healing begins with awareness, support, and learning new ways to experience connection that feel safe, steady, and respectful.

At Elston Psychotherapy, we help you untangle these patterns and build healthier, more secure relationships.

“The parentified daughter” isn’t a personality—it’s a role that was learned.

Maybe you were the one who had to grow up too fast. The one who took care of everyone else, kept the peace, and carried more than you should have. And now, as an adult, it can look like:
• Struggling to ask for help
• Feeling guilty when you put yourself first
• Being drawn to relationships where you’re the caretaker
• Not quite knowing who you are outside of taking care of others
• Holding yourself to impossibly high standards

These patterns didn’t come from nowhere—they were ways you adapted.

But you don’t have to stay in that role forever.

Healing can look like learning to set boundaries without guilt, identifying your own needs, and allowing yourself to be supported too.

You deserve relationships where care goes both ways. 🤍

Depression hates a moving target.

It thrives in stillness, in isolation, in the quiet moments where nothing shifts and everything feels stuck. But even the smallest movement—getting out of bed, stepping outside, sending a text, taking a breath with intention—disrupts its grip.

You don’t have to overhaul your life today. You just have to move, even slightly.

Progress isn’t about speed. It’s about refusing to stay frozen.

At Elston Psychotherapy, we’re here to help you find movement again—at your pace, in your way.

The small choices you make each day—showing up, setting boundaries, taking care of your mind and body—are powerful ways of saying “I love you” to yourself.

At Elston Psychotherapy, we help you build sustainable habits that support your mental health, not shame it. Growth doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from consistency and compassion.

✨ What’s one small way you can show up for yourself today?

💭 Don’t Take Everything Personally 💭

It’s easy to internalize other people’s words, reactions, or moods—but often, they’re not really about you.

At Elston Psychotherapy, we help clients build the awareness and tools to:
✨ Recognize that others’ actions reflect their own experiences
✨ Separate self-worth from rejection or criticism
✨ Observe emotions without absorbing negativity
✨ Protect your peace and let go of what isn’t yours

Learning not to take things personally doesn’t mean you stop caring—it means you start caring for yourself in a healthier way.

If this is something you struggle with, you’re not alone—and support can help. 💙

Some everyday habits might be making your anxiety worse—without you even realizing it.

Things like skipping meals, not getting enough sleep, constantly checking the news or social media, or spending too much time Googling symptoms can quietly increase feelings of stress and overwhelm.

Even small factors—like dehydration, lack of movement, or too much sugar—can impact how your mind and body respond to anxiety.

The goal isn’t perfection—it’s awareness.

Start small:
✔ Eat regularly
✔ Prioritize sleep
✔ Take breaks from screens
✔ Move your body
✔ Step outside for fresh air

These simple shifts can make a meaningful difference in how you feel.

At Elston Psychotherapy, we help you understand the connection between your habits, your body, and your mental health—so you can feel more in control and supported.

Anxiety doesn’t just live in your thoughts—it shows up in your body, emotions, and behaviors, too.

You might notice it as racing thoughts, constant worry, or overthinking. But it can also look like muscle tension, trouble sleeping, irritability, or avoiding things that once felt manageable.

Understanding how anxiety shows up for *you* is the first step toward managing it.

You’re not “too sensitive.” You’re not “overreacting.” Your mind and body are responding—and with the right tools, you can learn to respond differently.

At Elston Psychotherapy, we help you connect the dots and build skills to feel more grounded, in control, and supported.

If this resonates, you’re not alone—and support is available. 🤍

Non-toxic relationships start with self-awareness 🌱

It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being intentional in how we show up for ourselves and others.

A few small shifts can make a big difference:
• Pause before reacting
• Choose understanding over criticism
• Don’t let small moments turn into big conflicts
• Take accountability when you’re wrong
• Lead with support, not insecurity
• Practice gratitude for what you have

Growth looks like learning, unlearning, and choosing differently—even when it’s hard.

At Elston Psychotherapy, we believe healthier relationships begin with the work we do within ourselves.
