Learn about Entrainment! 🥁

Entrainment occurs when two separate rhythm cycles synchronize. For example: next time you go to a place with music, watch how people walk. Do you see them walking to the beat? That’s Entrainment.

Our bodies are full of natural internal rhythms…
Breath
Heartbeat
Walk
Speech

Even if a client isn’t directly engaging with a therapist, the client is still benefiting from music therapy. A therapist can play a steady beat on a live instrument such as a drum, Clatterpillar, Boomwhacker, or their own legs! The tempo is determined by using the child’s natural internal rhythms to regulate them as they play or wander.

*If you have any questions about Entrainment, ask your music therapist! They are always excited to answer your questions

Meet Our New Music Therapist, Isaiah! 🎶

Let's give a warm welcome to our new music therapist, Isaiah! We're thrilled to have him join our team!

"Hi there!

My name is Isaiah Berner-Milner and I am from Winneconne, WI. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies with a minor in Piano from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. I also have an Equivalency Degree in Music Therapy from Alverno College and completed a 6 month internship at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin. I have over 2 years work experience with St. Croix Hospice as a Hospice Music Therapist as well as a passion for providing music therapy to all populations.

In my free time, I love to play board games or video games, read books, and travel to new places. A fun fact about me is that I play Bass Clarinet in the Neenah Community Band as well as Clarinet in the polka band named Happy Wanderers."

We're Celebrating Disability Pride Month!

In honor of Disability Pride Month, MTSCW will change its logo to the Disability Pride Flag for the month of July! The flag was a collaboration between Ann Magill and people with disabilities in order to create a true representation of the community.

Each color has a meaning:
💚Green - Sensory disabilities, including deafness, blindness, lack of smell, lack of taste, audio processing disorder, and all other sensory disabilities
💙Blue - Emotional and psychiatric disabilities, including mental illness, anxiety, and depression
🤍White - Invisible disabilities and disabilities that haven't yet been diagnosed
💛Gold - Neurodiversity
❤️Red - Physical disabilities

Disability Pride Month celebrates the enactment anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities.
