Petey was adopted when he was 4 months old from the Pikes Peak Humane Society in Colorado Springs, Colorado. When he was one year old, his adventurous spirit moved him to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he made brand new puppy friends and spent the days playing in the pool and soaking up the sun’s summer rays. One Sunday afternoon, after playing in the park with his buddies, Petey ruptured a disc in his
back. He was immediately rushed to the animal hospital, where they performed emergency surgery. The broken disc material compressing his spinal cord was removed, but nerve damage had already set in. After spending five long days in intensive care, he was sent home to finish his recovery. Shortly after, Petey began physical therapy, and even though he made tremendous progress, he never fully regained feeling in his hind legs or the ability to walk. However, being a tough little guy, Petey was determined to not let that stand in his way! Today, he gets around using his wheelchair, where you can often find him showing off for his doggy girlfriends! In Petey’s spare time, he enjoys chewing on his toys, playing with his doggy friends, and hiding his bones around the house.
