✨ 3 things the latest research is teaching us about healthier skin…
I spend time each week reading new dermatology research so you don’t have to. Here are three themes that stood out this week:
🦠 1. Healthy skin isn’t just skin deep.
The gut-skin connection continues to grow as an area of research. Scientists are finding that the bacteria living in our digestive system may influence inflammation throughout the body—including the skin. While we still have a lot to learn, it reminds us that healthy skin starts with more than what we put on our face.
☀️ 2. The best treatment for hyperpigmentation is prevention.
New research reinforces something I talk about often: controlling inflammation before and after a treatment is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. A healthy barrier, thoughtful treatment selection, and daily sun protection matter just as much as brightening ingredients.
🌿 3. “Microbiome-friendly” doesn’t automatically mean better.
The skin microbiome is incredibly complex. Current research suggests that a healthy barrier and well-formulated skincare are more important than chasing trendy labels. Good skincare should support your skin—not overwhelm it.
My favorite takeaway?
The future of skincare isn’t about doing more. It’s about making better-informed decisions that respect how your skin naturally functions.
That’s the philosophy behind every recommendation I make at Skin Clinic DH Med Spa.
Every treatment. Every recommendation. Every step. Thoughtfully chosen. Beautifully balanced. Throughout your skin journey.
