We’ll discuss:

✅ Stress and its impact on the body
✅ Healthy aging strategies
✅ Practical recovery tools you can start using right away

As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass and strength.

Many older adults are told to use very light weights, but research says that’s not enough.

A 2023 meta-analysis of strength training in older adults found no measurable strength improvements when training below 50% of your one-repetition maximum (1RM).

In simple terms?

If the weight feels too easy, your body may not have a reason to get stronger.

Your muscles need a challenge.

That doesn’t mean reckless lifting.
It means progressive resistance.

A weight that feels challenging.
A weight that requires effort.
A weight that tells your body:

👉 “Keep this muscle. We’re still using it.”

Why does this matter?

✅ Stronger muscles help prevent falls
✅ Stronger muscles support healthy bones
✅ Stronger muscles make daily life easier
✅ Stronger muscles help you stay independent

The goal isn’t bodybuilding.

The goal is being able to carry groceries, climb stairs, get off the floor, hike trails, and keep doing the things you love well into your 70s, 80s, and beyond.

Don’t stop strength training because you’re getting older.

Strength train because you’re getting older.

Your future self will thank you.

PROBLEM: You’re going too hard on your “easy” days

This one holds a lot of athletes back.

You feel good… so you push harder.
You don’t want to “waste” a day… so you do more.

But here’s the truth:

Your progress is built on recovery days.

When easy days turn into moderate days, you show up under-recovered for the workouts that actually matter.

👉 The result:

Plateaued performance
Increased injury risk
Constant fatigue

Fix it:
Respect recovery as part of your training.

Use your off or easy days to actively recover:
• 30-minute sauna session
• Light compression
• Nervous system reset (halotherapy or quiet recovery time)

PROBLEM: You’re not refueling after workouts

You finish a hard session… and then jump straight into your day.

No plan. No refuel. No recovery strategy.

That doesn’t just slow recovery—it keeps your body in a stressed, depleted state for hours.

👉 What this looks like:

Energy crashes mid-day
Poor focus
Increased soreness
Slower progress over time

Fix it:
Recovery starts immediately after your workout. I may do a fasting workout, but I am chomping down with 10 minutes of finishing. Healthy blend of protein and carb.

Hydrate. Heavy sweat workout? Electrolytes and water.
Fuel your body. Then support it with intentional recovery:
• Infrared Sauna (circulation + detox support)
• Red Light Therapy (cellular repair + energy production)
• Compression (flush + recovery boost)
