May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Mental health is a part of our daily lives. It helps us identify how we are feeling, what the day may look like, and how we engage with others.

When mental health struggles arise, it has an impact on our emotions, appetite, thinking, or behaviors which may affect our daily functioning.

We encourage you to take time to care for yourself and check-in to see how you are really doing.

Please reach out if you or someone you know is struggling đź’š

For social work month we asked our therapist Jena in Waupaca what led her to the field.

"I’ve always believed that people are so much more than the circumstances they’re living in.

That belief led me straight to Social Work.

Our stories are shaped by families, communities, systems, opportunities, and hardships — but none of those things fully define who we are. Social work allows us to step back and look at the bigger picture. It helps us understand how systems impact each of us differently while still honoring that every person carries their own identity, strengths, and lived experience.

For me, this work has always been about connection and empowerment. Sitting with people in their real lives, hearing their stories, and helping them reconnect with their own voice and direction.

I don’t believe people need to be “fixed.” I believe people need spaces where they are seen, understood, and supported as whole human beings, that’s the kind of work that will always matter to me. That's what I believe Social Work was meant for 🤍."

We are so grateful to have you Jena!

The pressure for athletes to excel in their sport and to appear or have a certain physique can pose a significant risk for athletes to develop an eating disorder. Eating disorders are a complex biopsychosocial illnesses which do not discriminate based on age, gender, job status, wealth, ability, body/shape/size, race, or ethnicity. This is one of the main reasons why this year's theme for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week is Every BODY Belongs!

Please reach out for support if you or someone you know may be struggling with this, you do not deserve to have more time taken away from a life worth living.

Every BODY Belongs!

No more lives should be taken from an eating disorder, no more families should have to grieve the loss of a loved one from this diagnosis, and people should not have to have one more moment taken away from this disorder.
