Congratulations to Ashley Wojtczak, BSN, RN, CCRN, from 3N-ICU at Community Hospital on being our April 2026 Daisy Award recipient!

Ashley was nominated by one of her team members:

"Ashley Wojtczak is a Clinical Leader in our Community ICU who brings exceptional skill, leadership, and heart to everything she does. On one particularly demanding day, Ashley was floated to another floor, then urgently called back to the ICU to care for a critically ill patient — a physically and emotionally exhausting turn of events that she handled with complete professionalism. Yet before she had even taken a break or eaten lunch, Ashley did something that speaks to her extraordinary character: When there was a moment of silence with her current assignment, instead of resting herself, she left the unit and returned to sit with her previous patient who was dying on comfort measures, ensuring he would not face his final moments alone. Ashley embodies the very best of nursing — not just in her clinical excellence, but in her boundless compassion. She is truly deserving of this honor."

Ashley was celebrated in her unit with her team, Upstate leadership, and with cinnamon rolls!

Thanks for all you do Ashley!

Upstate is the Region’s Only Level 1 Trauma Center!
Upstate University Hospital handles the most challenging trauma cases—adult and pediatric—including burn patients, from 37 counties in the state.

Mandy and Kelsey, both RNs on trauma orientation in the ED, along with Sophia, RN, are learning and practicing how to use the Belmont with simulated units, blood products, and practice supplies. Our ED staff are always building their skills so they’re prepared to provide the best care for trauma patients!

Thanks to Upstate Nursing Social Media Ambassador Sophia for highlighting your team!
