Mecosta, Michigan Welcome to my journey!

Hello, I'm Danielle, a passionate advocate for native flora and fauna. Six years ago, my daughters and I embarked on an adventure of a lifetime, trading Washington state's familiar landscapes for the diverse beauty of northwest Michigan. Fuelled by my passion for native plants and animals, I'm on a mission to revive my beloved nursery on our picturesque 3.5-acre haven in Branch. As a devoted advoc

ate for these incredible species, I'm dedicated to sharing their secrets and inspiring others to cherish their vital role in sustaining a healthy ecosystem. Through this platform, I'll share knowledge, spark inspiration, and raise awareness about the importance of preserving our natural world for future generations.

Once upon a time (10+ years ago) I loved mullein… until I saw literal acres of it in one area. There was no space for native plants to grow. It was just… mullein.

I’ve had a lot of folks talking to me about how “wonderful” mullein is lately and I just rolllllll myyyy eyes at them.

What an awesome photo!

What an awesome photo!

Check this out! Megan Samuels sent in this photo after she and her family spotted this little black bear crossing the road while heading home from Northern Exposure in Mesick. Thanks, Megan! 🐻

DID YOU KNOW: Black bear cubs can stay with their mothers for about a year and a half, learning important survival skills before heading out on their own.

I’m sure you’ve all seen these majestic birds near small ponds, rivers, and marshes. The great blue heron is pretty large with a wingspan of up to 6.5 feet. Their main food source is fish which is why they’re often seen stalking waterways.
