My name is Maura and I am a certified registered dietitian nutritionist, a Florida licensed dietitian, and certified in public health. I obtained two bachelor's degrees in human nutrition and dietetics at Kansas State University, as well as completing my master’s of public health in dietetics at the University of South Florida. I am dedicated to helping your child build a healthier relationship wi

th food. As a former ballet dancer, I understand the pressure young athletes face - from body image struggles to balancing performance and nutrition. My own challenges with food and weight management inspired me to pursue a career in dietetics so I could help others find balance and confidence in their eating habits. Today, I specialize in pediatric dance and sports nutrition. Whether you are looking to support your teen’s performance goals, improve a picky eater, or learn how to help your child reach growth goals, I’m here to provide guidance that’s realistic, evidence-based, supportive, and tailored to you or your child’s unique needs.

Day 7. đź©°

I’m already noticing changes. 🤍

Today’s wins:

* Feeling more flexible.
* Added more strength training.
* Felt more grounded—not just while dancing, but throughout my day.
* Danced to fun music with lyrics, which helped me connect with the movement and express myself even more.

It’s exciting to see these small improvements already. I still have a long way to go, but I’m trusting the process and showing up one day at a time.

Day 6. đź©°

I’m finally starting to find a rhythm.

The soreness from those first few days is slowly fading, and I’m already feeling stronger. It’s amazing what consistency can do.

I’m also realizing that getting back into ballet is more than just taking class. My plan is to start each session with barre technique, while making time throughout the week for stretching and strength training—especially for the areas where I need the most improvement.

Every day I’m learning something new, and I’m excited to see how much progress I’ll make over the next few weeks.

Thank you for following along! 🤍 Be sure to follow my journey as I document all 30 days of getting back into ballet.

I want to make this EASY for dancers 🩰✨

Summer intensives are nearing an end, but these habits can still be maintained for long rehearsal days on weekends or you can save these tips for next year! 🙌🏻

So let’s break it down…

Lunch: balanced with fiber and protein. The salad kits are perfect and easy to make and adding cooked chicken breast completes them! 🥗

Snacks: they need to be light and easy to eat. I don’t want you feeling full or weighed down, but they HAVE to be easy carbs that the body can absorb.

Protein: have a shake or bar so you can start your muscle recovery process 💪🏻

LIKE and SHARE with your fellow dancers so they can feel confident in fueling for a long dance day!

Day 5. đź©°

Today was less about dancing and more about building the foundation.

I spent extra time stretching and doing exercises to strengthen my psoas and hip flexors—and wow…I was definitely feeling the burn by the end. 🔥 It’s not the glamorous part of ballet, but I know these are the areas that will help me become stronger and move with more control.

The exciting part? I’m already noticing little wins.

My balance feels more stable, and I can tell my glutes and core are starting to do their job a little better. Those tiny improvements remind me that showing up consistently really does make a difference.

I also danced to music from Chris Barbosa’s YouTube channel, Lucid Soundscapes Music. Every piece on the channel is originally composed by Chris, and it was the perfect soundtrack for today’s session. If you’re looking for beautiful music to study, relax, unwind, or even move to, be sure to check out his YouTube channel and give him a follow on Instagram chrisbarbosamusic . I love being able to support his incredible talent while working toward my own goals. 🤍

Thank you for following this journey with me. Every day I’m getting a little stronger, and I can’t wait to see where I’ll be in a few more weeks.

Day 4. đź©°

Life happens…and that’s okay.

I had to skip yesterday because I got home late from work, but one missed day doesn’t erase the progress I’ve made. I’m learning that consistency isn’t about being perfect—it’s about coming back.

Today felt different in the best way. I felt a little stronger, a little more connected to the floor, and a little more in tune with my movements. I even switched things up and danced to some of my favorite pop songs with lyrics, and it reminded me how much I love not just the technique of ballet, but the feeling of dancing.

There’s still so much strength to build, and I know I have a long way to go. But for the first time, I can already feel small changes happening. My hope is that over the next few weeks, you’ll start seeing those changes too.

Thank you for following along with this journey. Every comment, like, and word of encouragement keeps me showing up. 🤍 Follow along to see where this ballet comeback takes me.
