Ya girl snoozed n getting herself a ticket to see book tour but was flooded with offers from .be.your.midwife and it was so great to see so many of you that I’ve known from my baby birth assistant days to almost all my students and even a couple previous clients.
Jen and .beachgem10 chatting was better than seeing them on the gram. Wouldn’t have stayed in that hot of a room for any other people. My deepest empathy to every pregnant, menstrual, lactating, and menopausal or otherwise hormonal person in the room with us. 😅

To anyone who has told me “sorry it’s all one weekend this year” let me just tell you “it’s cool; next year it’s all one day”. I have shared my birthday with Mother’s Day more than a couple times. I’ve shared the day with my mom as a kid and just had rockin days/weekends other years. IT’S COOL. Especially as a midwife to share this day. I’m hanging back, laying low and I have all my babies home this year. I can’t complain. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to the rest of you. I hope you are loved,held and cared for. I hope you’re being silly with your babes and that you’re doing little to no chores. 😘

I've been holding onto this photo for a minute, not quite ready to share it with the world because it means so much to me. This picture represents a mom who labored for days and pushed for hours, working to bring her baby earthside. She was strong and excellent and sacrificed every ounce of her strength for her family. And as her midwife, I am so proud of her.

This photo also represents the weight of being a midwife. The responsibility that I carry for my clients- both mama and baby. There are a lot of discussions in the out-of-hospital birth community about transfer rates and good vs. bad midwives who do and don't transfer. But a midwife that holds your family as sacred will never jeopardize your safety just to keep you out of the hospital. The way this mama, this father, and this doula are looking at me is a reminder of this weight...the significance...that I never want to take for granted. When a family chooses Texas Family Birth & Wellness, they are choosing a midwife who holds that sacred space with the utmost reverence. And with that comes a promise: I will protect your birth space and if hard conversations have to happen, know that I come before you humbly, heartbroken with you, and still beside you until your sweet baby is brought safely into this world.
