The Moro reflex (also called the startle reflex) is something babies are born with and is the sign that their brains and nervous systems are still developing.

It’s an automatic newborn response where a baby:

* suddenly throws their arms out
* then pulls them back in
* often with a startle or cry

It’s triggered by things like:

* a loud noise
* a sudden movement
* a feeling of falling or head drop

This reflex is part of normal nervous system development and is thought to be an early survival mechanism, basically a way for the baby to react to sudden danger or loss of support.

It usually:

* appears at birth (even in preterm babies)
* starts to fade around 3–4 months
* is typically gone by about 4–6 months as the nervous system matures

What if the thing you’ve been craving isn’t another self-help book, another podcast, or another item on your to-do list?

What if it’s space?

Space to breathe deeply.
Space to move your body.
Space to laugh until your cheeks hurt.
Space to reconnect with yourself and other women walking the path of womanhood alongside you.

Nestled in the breathtaking beauty of the North Carolina mountains, the Arc of the Woman Retreat is an invitation to step away from the demands of everyday life and into a sacred container of restoration, reflection, and connection.

Imagine waking to mountain views, sharing delicious meals lovingly prepared for you, moving your body through nourishing practices, hiking through nature, dancing freely, sitting in meaningful conversation, and remembering the parts of yourself that often get lost in the noise of daily life.

This is more than a retreat.

It’s an opportunity to be witnessed, supported, inspired, and deeply nourished—mind, body, and soul.

Because when women gather with intention, something powerful happens.

And because we are committed to creating an intimate and deeply connected experience, space is intentionally limited.

If your heart is feeling the pull, don’t ignore it.

Fetal Womb Position Matters!

See how your baby is hanging out in the womb!
Your baby is always moving, stretching, and finding the position that feels most comfortable inside your body.
And YES & your daily movements matter.
How you sit, rest, move, and live can influence the space your baby has to settle in.
If you're hoping for a vaginal birth, the most ideal position for baby as you near the end of pregnancy is typically head down.
When your body is balanced and open, your baby has more room to turn and engage naturally.
And yes, I know... breech is a variation of normal... but let's be frank (pun fully intended ): many providers do not offer vaginal breech births.
That's why creating space and balance in your body can be so helpful for babies who still want to turn.
The goal isn't forcing a position, it's supporting the muscles, soft tissues, and joints so your womb becomes the most welcoming place possible.

I have learned that this reel was actually a prank , but it brings up something important that every breastfeeding mother should know.
*edit to update- you guys filled me in- this is a skit from the comedy show, Impractical Jokers
Across all 50 states, breastfeeding mothers have legal protections that support their right to feed their babies.
Federal law also protects a mother's right to breastfeed in public anywhere she is otherwise authorized to be.
You do not need to cover up, move to a restroom, or leave a business simply because you are nursing your child.
The Policy Statement of the American Academy of Pediatrics and federal protections, including the Friendly Airports for Mothers Act and workplace pumping protections under the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act, reflect growing recognition that feeding babies is a normal and protected part of life.
If you're breastfeeding in public, know your rights. Feeding your baby is not something you need permission to do.
Have you ever been told to cover up or move while breastfeeding?

breastmilk can come in a surprising variety of colors throughout your feeding journey 💚❤️💛

From creamy white and yellow to blue, green, orange, and even red or pink, breastmilk color can change for many reasons.

These are a few of the factors that can affect the colors of breastmilk: the stage of lactation, time of day, your hydration levels, certain foods, supplements, and cracked ni***es.

While these color changes can sometimes catch parents off guard, they are often completely normal and simply reflect the dynamic nature of human milk.
That said, if you notice a sudden change in color, have concerns about blood in your milk, or something just doesn't seem right, reach out to a Certified Lactation Counselor or your pediatrician for personalized guidance.

Have you ever noticed your milk change color?
