Plants feed our microbiome. Different plants feed different gut bugs.
More diversity on our plate = a more diverse microbiome.
And that makes for a happier gut!
When our microbiome is flourishing, our bodies are able to work better. Our brains, our immune system, our elimination, to name a few, can also flourish.
We should be eating at least 30 different plants a week. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices.
That sounds like a lot. Especially if you feel you typically eat the same things. So I kept track one week just to see how I was doing.
I was a little surprised - with no planning or effort, I easily got 30 plants in. Slide 2 is that week's list. I only counted herbs or spices that were a significant amount.
Are you feeding your gut bugs 30 different plants each week? Try keeping track to find out.
