Memorial Day is always a rough day for me. Instead of processing everything this week, I just kept working.
It’s hard thinking about the men and women we’ve lost to combat and at home — people I served with, respected, and cared about. Like a lot of veterans, I still think about what I could’ve done differently, or whether I could’ve done more.
God bless the troops still carrying the fight this week and ever. I have deep respect and love for everyone who has taken up arms for this country. We may not always like each other, and we may not always agree, but I will always respect and love you as brothers and sisters in arms.
RIP to the great and powerful Gerrick Smith, and to all the others we’ve lost — whether on the battlefield or fighting the war at home.
