Well… we were ready to start trumpeting from the rooftops about our new USDA-inspected Kunekune pork.

The pork is here.
The freezer is here.
We were excited.

And then our little farm shop said,
“Yeah… I don’t quite have enough juice for all this.”

So yes, we’re a little discouraged.

Turns out we need some electrical work done before we can run everything the way we need to. That’s part of growing, I guess. Every time you take the next step, you find the next thing that needs fixed, upgraded, or figured out.

But the good news is this:

We do have meat available!!!!

It just may not all be sitting pretty in the front freezer yet. If you come by, we’ll gladly grab it from the back freezers for you.

We have buckboard bacon, brats, ham, ham hocks, sausage, bacon chips, chops, and more.

And yes — before anyone asks, we did check the electrical. Or at least we checked what we thought we needed to check.

Farm life. Small business life. Real life.

We’re a little deflated, but we’ll get there.

Also… if you know a great electrician who understands farm shops and freezer loads, send them our way. One wire, one freezer, one sigh at a time.

What is farm life, you wonder?

Well… sometimes it means the dog starts going absolutely nuts in the dark, and you run out thinking something is attacking a lamb…

Nope.

Turns out she was just announcing a completely surprise lamb on June 1st that nobody expected.

Farm life will keep you humble. 😂🐑

Welcome to New Magnolia, little one. ❤️

🌍 The mission continues — and God is opening new doors.

We are excited to officially introduce Tim Bradbury, our Associate Director of World Missions, along with his wife, Jennie, and their beautiful family!

The Bradburys are stepping into this season with a heart for the Gospel, a passion for missions, and a deep burden to see Deaf communities around the world reached, taught, discipled, and loved in the name of Jesus.

At ICCD, we believe the Gospel is for every nation, every language, and every person — including the millions of Deaf children and adults around the world who are often overlooked, unreached, and without access to the hope of Christ in a language they understand.

This next chapter is exciting, and we believe God is opening doors for greater impact around the world.

Help us welcome Tim, Jennie, and the Bradbury family to this mission! Drop a comment, say hello, and join us in praying for what God is doing through ICCD.

Most of you know our family through New Magnolia Homestead — the wild kiddos, farm, the animals, the farm shop, foster care, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with saying “yes” to what God puts in front of us.

But something many people may not know is that our family is also part of full-time world missions.

We are blessed to serve with International Christian Centers for the Deaf (ICCD), a ministry reaching Deaf communities around the world with the Gospel, education, discipleship, and practical support.

And while we are based here in Virginia, this mission stretches far beyond us.

From Uganda, Cuba, Brazil, Mexico, India, the Bahamas, and to the corners of the world, we are part of an incredible team of people serving, teaching, loving, building, discipling, and helping Deaf children and families know they are seen, loved by Jesus and us, and created with purpose by God.

So yes… between the farm, foster care, family, ministry, animals, travel, and everything in between — we are a tad bit “busy” most days. 😅

But it is all for a purpose.

Whether we are opening our home, caring for this farm, welcoming people into the shop, or standing alongside Deaf communities across the world, our heart is the same:

To serve where God has placed us.

We are thankful for this life, thankful for our ICCD family around the world, and grateful for every person who prays for us, encourages us, supports the farm, and follows along with what God is doing.

🌍 Farm life. Foster care. Family. Missions.
All for His glory.

🌍 The mission continues — and God is opening new doors.

GUESS WHAT!!! 👀🔥

It has been a long road and a long time coming… but the freezer is officially in and running, which means one thing:

MEAT IS ON THE WAY. 🙌

We are so excited to finally be bringing USDA-inspected New Magnolia Homestead Kunekune pork to the farm shop.

This isn’t just pork — this is certified registered Kunekune, pasture-raised right here on our farm, from pigs we’ve cared for from start to finish.

Coming soon:

🥓 Buckboard bacon
🥓 Bacon chips
🌭 Brats
🍖 Ham
🍖 Ham hocks
🌿 Sausage

This is a huge step for our little farm, and we are so thankful for everyone who has followed along, encouraged us, and waited patiently while we worked to do this the right way.

Stay tuned… the freezer is about to get really good. 🐷🥓

Sad night here on the farm.

After a few days of our sweet momma Meishan, Ryah, fighting pneumonia, she finally succumbed to it tonight.

If you know anything about us, you know we did everything we could for her. In the end, she was warm, dry, and loved. She fought hard, but sometimes farm life just breaks your heart.

These animals aren’t just “livestock” to us. They’re part of the rhythm of this place, part of our family’s story, and Ryah was one of the good ones.

And with Meishans, that loss carries even more weight. They aren’t just another pig breed. Meishans are one of the oldest heritage breeds in the world and are still considered a threatened breed by The Livestock Conservancy. Every good momma matters — not just to our farm, but to preserving the genetics, temperament, mothering ability, and history of a breed that deserves to keep going.

Ryah was gentle, sweet, and a good momma. We’re thankful for the time we had with her, but man… loss sucks.

Rest easy, sweet girl. You were loved.

What is our 2-month-old blind little lamb, Smudge, up to?

Update! We’re happy to say Smudge got her new little house today in her very own “handicap pasture.” 🐑🤍

This sweet girl may be blind, but she is learning her world one step, one sound, and one brave little moment at a time. We’re setting her up with a safe space made just for her, and later this week she’ll be getting her very own halo to help her bump around a little more safely.

She’s tiny, tough, and absolutely precious. Smudge is just one more reminder that every life on this farm has value, purpose, and a place to belong.

We’ll keep sharing updates as she settles into her new setup. For now, she’s dry, cozy, loved, and doing great. 💛
