New Recipe👩🏻‍🍳

🧇Protein waffles: Red Lentils edition

Step 1: Make the batter.
Boil your red lentils until they are soft. I used 1/2 cup of lentils. Let it cool.

Use a food processor to mix the lentils to make a batter. You will add your other ingredients to this.

I then added 1 duck egg (you can use chicken). 1 tbsp of baking soda. 1 tbsp of olive oil. 1/4 cup of gluten free all purpose mix. I mixed this all in the food processor until completely smooth.

Step 2: use your ice cream scoop to place the batter in your warmed up waffle maker and close the lid for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3: carefully remove the waffle. I used my mini tongs.

Step 4: Place on your plate, pair with your favorite syrup and enjoy!

👩🏻‍🍳What I used:

Stainless steel ice cream scoop
Mini waffle maker
mini tongs
Red Lentils
gluten free all purpose mix

🫐Here’s your friendly reminder to wash your produce. Yup, even the organic ones!

Pesticides, bugs, mold and other things can reside on the surfaces of our produce. Even when buying from the best farm with good farming and soil practices, you still want to wash them first.

Why? They last longer, they are cleaner and you can remove anything I mentioned above off that could potentially harm your health. Pesticides are known endocrine disrupters and carcinogens.

🍇Premade solution concentrates:
Two companies I trust make a premade solution: Young Livings thieves fruit and veggie wash and also branch basics concentrate has a recipe to use too.

🍇DIY recipes: use cold water in a clean sink or bowl.

🍇Baking soda: 1tsp to every 2 cups cold water , soak up to 15 min. Consider using a veggie cleaning brush for removing residues.

🍇Vinegar with or without lemon juice:
2 cups cold water to 1 cup of white vinegar, soak or spray and rinse with water

*Spontaneity and Creativity*

One of the areas of our health we assess is creativity. When was the last time you tried something new? When was the last time you had fun and experienced something for the first time?

Creativity can be creating physical things or experiencing moments that make you learn and have fun.

Today, my Husband and I had a spontaneous adventure and taught our dog how to go kayaking with us.

We never have taken her out with us and she did great. It was great time to bond and do sow thing we do t do everyday.

What’s something you can do new with someone you love this week?

Tag me .isticwellnesscoaching if you do anything fun and share your ideas!

My GF Shepherds Pie Recipe 🥘

Ingredients:
Small red potatoes
Grass fed butter
Himalayan salt
Frozen mixed veggies without additives
Grass fed/finished beef
Goat cheese

- Boil your potatoes in water with a sprinkle of Himalayan salt until soft

- While the potatoes are boiling, brown ground beef with seasoning you desire. I just used himalayan salt.

Once this is done, add some olive oil to your skillet (I use a cast iron) and sauté your mixed veggies. I chose the one with carrots, green beans, peas and corn. Add seasoning.

- Once the potatoes are soft, drain them and mash them to your desired creaminess. I keep the skins on mine.

- In a glass container, add in beef and veggies and mix. Then add the mashed potatoes on top until it is fully covered.

- Next, coach the top of the potato’s with grass fed goat cheese. I use a cheese shredder to get it shredded and easy to melt.

Once it is covered with your cheese, put it in the over on broil until the cheese is melted.

Enjoy!

You can change the flavors depending on the seasonings you use. I had to use himalayan salt for the flavor I wanted and to make sure I stick to certain food sensitivities I have.

*Heatless Curls and Product review * (Swipe left to see my routine)

I like to share healthy options with you guys because they are out there.

I got the heatless curls kit to use and see if it worked for my hair.

I started with making my hair damp and putting in curl defining cream. A little goes a long way.

Then I clipped the Kitsch to my head and split my hair down the middle. O took each section and wrapped it around the rods in the direction I wanted the curl to go. I did this on both sides. Afterwards you secure with the included scrunchies at the end. I left this in overnight.

*next morning*

I slowly took each curl out as I had wrapped them until they were all out. I used soft hold gel and hair spray lightly over the curls and let dry.

I then loosely pulled my fingers through them to separate a bit more and style how I wanted.

That’s it! It was super easy and no heat damage or harmful toxic products to get the curls!

Woo!

Have you used either of these products? Thoughts?

Love this!

Cooking real food is a revolutionary act that can help bring you closer to your loved ones.

Sitting down and having stimulating conversations has become a lost art. Our children will grow up without these survival tactics, and their children will face the same fate—not being able to identify common fruits and vegetables, not realizing where food comes from, and feeling isolated rather than connected with others.

We can change that, one meal at a time.

It’s not just that we are less present. Incredibly busy lives also mean many of us shy away from cooking or even having a family dinner together.

Between our never-ending to-do lists, demanding jobs, children’s busy schedules, and perhaps less-than-stellar skills in the kitchen, cooking, or even eating together seems to slide down on our list of priorities.

That’s unfortunate, considering the numerous benefits of making a meal or even sitting down together to eat.

Whether you’re preparing food together or passing it around the family table, it’s a wonderful time to reconnect, get the day’s download, share laughs, and discuss important events.

Start your new ritual by making your kitchen as warm and inviting as possible.⠀

How can you distinguish between good and bad fats?

First, it’s helpful to make a distinction between “fatty” foods and “high-fat” foods. Fatty foods are over-processed or packaged foods that contain highly processed fats and oils (or are deep fried, for example). It should come as no surprise that fatty foods are bad for you! High-fat foods, on the other hand, are foods that naturally contain larger amounts of fat per serving. It’s these natural fats that we want to increase in our diet.

But among high-fat foods there is one further distinction: saturated and unsaturated fats. (The term “saturated” refers to how many hydrogen atoms are connected to the carbon atoms in the fat’s molecules—in other words, how saturated with hydrogen it is.) Luckily, there is a simple, easy method to determine which is which: leave it out on the counter. If it remains a solid (e.g., butter, coconut oil), it’s saturated fat. If it becomes a liquid (e.g., olive oil), it’s primarily unsaturated fat.

When we take all of the data and research into account, we can start to form an idea of which fats to target in our diet and which to reduce or eliminate. A rule of thumb we can use is to remember the following:

Naturally unsaturated fats are good fats.
Overly processed fats, like those generally found in highly processed or fried foods, are bad fats.
Naturally saturated fats fall somewhere in between the two.

Home Environment 🌱

How does your environment at home play a part in your mental health?

Are you more elated and able to get things done if it’s clean versus dirty?

Is your home a safe, peaceful place for you to turn to at the end of the day?

This is one of the areas in our .isticwellnesscoaching holistic coaching we talk through that can make a difference in your health.

Take some time in this new year to reorganize, declutter and make your space your own.

Recycle, resale or dispose of anything that isn’t useful or sentimental.

Reorganize furniture or decorations.

Cleaning: take time to scheudle a day to clean and get caught up. If able, consider delegating to a maid service.

Reduce the toxic load:
Switch to low toxin cleaners
Use diffusers or electric candles
Take your shoes off at the door
Get house plants - I recommend the snake plant or pothos for beginners 🌱

What thing can you do today to make your space somewhere you can relax, destress, pray, etc?
