We tend to think that change means leaving something behind: a pattern, a relationship, a fear, a way of responding.
And yet, we often find ourselves returning to familiar places. The same conflicts appear in different relationships. The same questions return under different circumstances. We make choices we promised ourselves we would not make again.
But repetition does not necessarily mean that nothing has changed.
Sometimes we return to the same place from a different position. A word appears that was not there before. A question replaces an old certainty. Something that once seemed inevitable begins to feel less so.
Therapy can offer a space to listen differently to what repeats, not simply to eliminate it, but to discover what it may be trying to say and what else might become possible.

Solemos pensar que cambiar significa dejar algo atrás: un patrón, una relación, un miedo, una manera de responder.
Sin embargo, muchas veces regresamos a lugares conocidos. Los mismos conflictos aparecen en distintas relaciones. Las mismas preguntas vuelven bajo otras circunstancias.
Pero repetir no significa necesariamente que nada haya cambiado.
A veces volvemos al mismo lugar desde otra posición. Aparece una palabra que antes no estaba. Una pregunta sustituye una vieja certeza. Algo que parecía inevitable comienza a dejar de serlo.
La terapia puede ofrecer un espacio para escuchar de otra manera aquello que se repite: no simplemente para eliminarlo, sino para descubrir qué puede estar intentando decir y qué otra cosa podría hacerse posible.
