Father’s Day may be over, but for many adult children, the visit doesn’t end when they get back home.
Sometimes you leave with a nagging feeling that something has changed.
Maybe Dad seemed more forgetful than usual. Maybe he moved a little slower, lost weight, struggled to keep up with household tasks, or repeated the same stories several times. Or maybe nothing seemed wrong, but you found yourself wondering what the future might look like if things do change.
One of the biggest mistakes families make is waiting for a crisis before starting the conversation.
You don’t need to have all the answers today. You don’t need to convince anyone to move. And you certainly don’t need to solve every future challenge in a single discussion.
What you can do is start paying attention.
Write down what you noticed. Talk with siblings about their observations. Review legal and financial documents. Schedule appointments if there are health concerns. Begin learning about available resources and care options before they become urgent.
The best decisions are rarely made during a crisis. They’re made when families have time to gather information, ask questions, and plan ahead.
If Father’s Day left you wondering what comes next, the Senior Living Made S.I.M.P.L.E.™ Companion App and S.I.M.P.L.E.™ resources were created to help families get organized, understand their options, and take the next step with confidence.
