Don’t Let Fear Win: You ARE in Control
If you’ve left an abusive situation, there may be very trying times ahead. Times that make you question the support systems you thought you had in place. Your abuser may seem to have a long reach, but remember this: You are out of physical harm’s way. You are out of direct abuse in every form.
Here’s what you need to know:
Abusers harm when they lose control. Now that you’ve left, they’ve lost that control over you.
REPORT EVERYTHING. EVERY TIME. Yes, even when law enforcement says “if you didn’t see them, there’s not much we can do other than take a report.” LET THEM TAKE THAT REPORT. Create a paper trail. Eventually, ongoing harassment, vandalism, stalking, and terroristic threats WILL BE PROVEN. The difference is: you will be alive to see justice served.
Do not let your abuser beat you down in ANY WAY EVER AGAIN.
You took control back when you left. Now STAY in control. This is YOUR life—no one else’s.
LIVE YOUR LIFE YOUR WAY.
You are victorious. You are a survivor. You are not alone.

Breaking the Cycle: Leave. Stay Gone. Stay Victorious.
There’s only one way to end the cycle: LEAVE.
But leaving is just the beginning. The real victory comes in what follows.
STAY GONE. This is where your strength is tested. This is where you prove to yourself that you deserve peace, safety, and love. Every day you stay gone is a day you choose yourself. Every day you stay gone, you get stronger.
STAY A LIFER. Commit to this new life you’re building. Be prouder of who you’re becoming. Stand stronger in your boundaries. Last longer than the doubt, the fear, the voices telling you to go back.
You are not just surviving anymore—you are VICTORIOUS.

⚠️ WINTER STORM WARNING - PLAN AHEAD FOR SAFETY ❄️
The East Coast is bracing for a significant winter storm this weekend. While we prepare for snow and ice, let’s also prepare to protect and support one another.
PLANNING SAVES LIVES
A storm can create dangerous situations—but it can also create opportunities to escape unsafe circumstances or be the lifeline someone desperately needs.
🏠 If you’re in a dangerous situation:
∙ Use storm preparation as a reason to leave safely
∙ Stock up on supplies at a friend’s or family member’s home
∙ Reach out to trusted people NOW while communication is still clear
∙ Create an exit plan before conditions worsen
🤝 Be the support system:
∙ Check on your neighbors, especially elderly or isolated individuals
∙ Offer your home as a safe space for someone who needs it
∙ Share resources—extra food, warm clothing, a phone charger
∙ Be the friend who asks “Are you okay? Really okay?”
∙ Listen without judgment. Sometimes that’s everything.
In a storm, isolation becomes more dangerous. Connection becomes more critical.
If someone reaches out to you this weekend—answer. If you’re worried about someone—reach out. If you need help—ask. This community is built on survival, strength, and solidarity.

With significant winter weather expected this weekend, we want to remind our community about the importance of having an escape plan BEFORE you’re snowed in.
If you’re in a situation where you need to leave, NOW is the time to act. Once roads become impassable, your options become extremely limited.
🔴 CRITICAL STEPS TO TAKE TODAY:
• Contact your support network - Let trusted friends, family, or advocates know your situation
• Gather essential documents - ID, birth certificates, medications, insurance cards
• Pack an emergency bag - Keep it hidden and accessible with clothes, phone charger, cash, and necessities
• Fill your gas tank completely
• Identify safe locations - Know where shelters, hotels, or safe houses are located
• Save important numbers in your phone under discreet names
• Monitor weather forecasts closely
If you feel unsafe and have been considering leaving, severe weather can create additional risks and isolation. Don’t wait until roads are closed.
