Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation

Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation As a US-based non-profit organization, HRF is dedicated to supporting the success and sustainability of rehabilitation in Haiti.

We support Occupational Therapy & Physical Therapy education in Haiti, primarily by providing logistical and financial support to Faculté des Sciences de Réhabilitation de Léogâne (FSRL), an OT/PT program in Haiti. PURPOSE STATEMENT - WHY we exist
The Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation (HRF) was founded to address the lack of adequate rehabilitation services in Haiti by creating a sustainable, Hai

tian-led solution. In response to the critical shortage of trained rehabilitation professionals, HRF established Faculté des Sciences de Réhabilitation de Léogâne (FSRL)—Haiti’s first academic program for occupational and physical therapy. Our purpose is to empower rehabilitation professionals in Haiti with the education, resources, and professional development needed to provide high-quality rehabilitation services. CORE VALUES
▪ Empowerment: Equipping Haitian professionals to lead, innovate, and transform rehabilitation services - ensuring Haitian sovereignty in advancing healthcare solutions.
▪ Sustainability: Committing to long-term, Haitian-led solutions that foster growth and maximize
utilization of Haitian workforce and resources.
▪ Collaboration: Partnering with Haitian organizations, educators, and global supporters to advance rehabilitation while respecting Haiti’s leadership and self-determination.
▪ Cultural Respect: Respecting Haiti’s dignity and unique identity by promoting culturally relevant
rehabilitation education and practices that reflect Haitian values and priorities. VISION STATEMENT - WHAT we envision
(Guided by our Purpose and Core Values)
We envision a Haiti where every person has access to high-quality, culturally relevant rehabilitation, revention, and wellness services — delivered by skilled Haitian professionals — empowering Haitians to live with dignity, independence, purpose, and meaning.

▪ FSRL thrives as a Haitian-led academic center of excellence, training generations of rehabilitation professionals to lead Haiti’s rehabilitation movement.
▪ Haitian rehabilitation professionals are fully integrated into Haiti’s healthcare system, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and earning widespread recognition for their expertise.
▪ Haiti stands as a global model for rehabilitation education and practice. MISSION STATEMENT - HOW we achieve our vision
(Directed by our Vision)
HRF is committed to sustaining high-quality education and training of rehabilitation professionals in Haiti through financial, logistical/operational, and strategic support. We fulfill our mission by:
▪ Strengthening FSRL as a Haitian-led center of excellence in rehabilitation education.
▪ Supporting the professional development of FSRL graduates and other Haitian rehabilitation
professionals.
▪ Engaging volunteers, building partnerships, acquiring resources and expertise, and sharing the work of HRF globally.
▪ Collaborating with Haitian professional associations and organizations to promote rehabilitation education, practice, advocacy, and policy. Through these efforts, Haitian rehabilitation professionals will be equipped to lead, innovate, and deliver culturally relevant rehabilitation services in Haiti — reducing disability-related barriers and transforming lives.

Michelle is a recent graduate of the Faculté Des Sciences De Réhabilitation De Léogâne UNEPH, Haiti's university-based occupational and physical therapy program supported by the Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation.

As a student, Michelle dreamed of one day working with a soccer team. Today, that dream has become reality—she has been appointed to the Haiti U14 National Soccer Team's sports medicine staff, becoming the first Haitian physical therapist to serve in this role.

Her achievement is about more than one remarkable career. It reflects our mission: to educate and empower Haitian rehabilitation professionals who will lead, innovate, and strengthen their own country's healthcare system.

Every graduate of FSRL represents a sustainable investment in Haiti's future—creating meaningful professional careers, expanding access to rehabilitation services, and ensuring that Haitian patients are cared for by highly trained Haitian clinicians.

When you support the Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation, you're not simply funding education. You're helping develop the next generation of Haitian leaders who are transforming healthcare, inspiring others, and proving what is possible.

Congratulations, Michelle! We can't wait to see where your leadership takes you next. 🇭🇹❤️

One of the unexpected highlights of our Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation Board Retreat in Montana—where our board gathered to strategically plan the organization’s path for the next five years—was meeting rodeo competitor Rodeley Reynolds at a local rodeo.

Born in Haiti, Rodeley was adopted by an American family following the 2010 earthquake there. Today, he has built a life in Montana as a wrangler at a guest ranch and a local rodeo competitor.

It was a pleasure to hear Rodeley’s story and connect with a Haitian whose journey has taken him from Haiti to the American West. Moments like this highlight the impact Haitians are making in every corner of the world.

Thank you, Rodeley—it was great meeting you! 🇭🇹🤠

Congratulations FSRL!!

From our friends at Msaada Architects:
After years of planning and fundraising, the new campus of the Faculté Des Sciences De Réhabilitation De Léogâne UNEPH (FSRL) has completed Phase I. Comprised of site preparations, and the construction of a new fence, gate, security building and water tower, FSRL is now well positioned to continue construction. With future plans to house classrooms, dining, administrative spaces, as well as student and staff housing, the Msaada designed center of learning will serve the pressing need for trained Physical and Occupational Therapists in Haiti.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Dr. Janet O'Flynn! 🎉

Today we celebrate the founding dean of FSRL and a founding member of the Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation. Janet's vision and dedication helped establish Faculté Des Sciences De Réhabilitation De Léogâne UNEPH, Haiti's first bachelor-level occupational therapy and physical therapy programs, creating opportunities for Haitian rehabilitation professionals to serve their own communities.

In honor of Janet's birthday, please consider making a donation to the Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation. Your gift will help educate future rehabilitation professionals and continue the work she helped begin.

Celebrating Haitian Mothers Day 🇭🇹❤️

Today, we honor the strength, resilience, and unwavering love of Haitian mothers. Across Haiti, mothers are often the foundation of their families and communities—nurturing children, overcoming challenges, and inspiring hope for the future.

Through the support of the Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation, Faculté Des Sciences De Réhabilitation De Léogâne UNEPH is helping educate the next generation of rehabilitation professionals who are improving the lives of children and adults throughout Haiti. Behind many of these future clinicians is a mother whose encouragement, sacrifice, and love made their journey possible.

On this Haitian Mother’s Day, we celebrate all mothers—and especially the mothers of FSRL students, graduates, faculty, and staff—whose strength continues to build a healthier and more hopeful Haiti.

Bonne Fête des Mères! Happy Mother’s Day! 🌺
