➡️ Cortisol isn’t the villain you think it is.
So much of what we hear, read, and see in our world today paints a picture of blaming Cortisol for things like poor sleep, weight gain, hormone dysregulation, etc…but I want to offer you a little different perspective here.
Here’s the thing. Cortisol is not a villain or a toxin. It’s not trying to ruin your life. It is the hormone that gets
you out of bed in the morning. It’s our survival hormone, and like it or not, we need it.
The problem is almost never that you have cortisol.
The problem is how much and when.
It is supposed to be highest in the first hour after you wake up, and lowest at night, so your body may actually let go and sleep.
When that rhythm flips, you get the version of you who is wiped out at eight, wide awake at ten, and lying there at eleven thirty with a brain circles on any and everything that happened today or is to come.
This is a cortisol rhythm problem.
And a rhythm is something we may actually work with.
Comment “curve” below and I’ll send you my September newsletter where I talk all about it and provide helpful tips to start balancing things out.
