Missed Our June Meeting? The Replay Is Now Available!

If you've ever dreamed of making a research trip to the Genealogy Center at Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana — one of the largest genealogical collections in the country — this one is for you!

🍁 Do You Have Canadian Roots? Your Family Tree Might Unlock Something Unexpected.

A new Canadian law that took effect last December is opening the door to citizenship for tens of thousands of Americans who have Canadian ancestry — and it all comes down to genealogical research.

Canada's Bill C-3 extends citizenship by descent beyond the first generation, potentially granting citizenship to people whose Canadian-born grandparents or great-grandparents emigrated long ago. But here's the genealogy connection: proving eligibility requires tracing every generation of your family with documented records — and the further back you have to go, the better documented everything has to be.

This is exactly the kind of work genealogists do every day — and it's a great reminder of why careful, well-sourced family history research matters.

Do you have Canadian ancestry?
