🩵 Dysautonomia 🩵awareness 🩵month

Despite the frequency with which many forms of dysautonomia occur, and the awareness among the general public growing since the COVID pandemic began, care is still lacking.

Share this post to bring awareness of the different types of dysautonomia and places to learn more so we can improve access to care and the quality of care for patients around the world.

It’s almost here!! Starting Thursday, October 1st, we will be doing again to help raise awareness and bring more tools and resources to people with autonomic dysfunction and their supporters!

I’ll be posting more frequently and have some special guests so stay tuned throughout the month!

You all know how this works but if you have questions post them in the comments. Let’s do this!

A Caitlyn Marie roundup for some relatable, hilarious weekend content. I love these!

In this sleep deprived season with young children, I am loving the reframe from this wizardly mouse. Also how do I get this frog to support my nervous system šŸ˜‚šŸø

Which one resonates the most for you?

Thanks to Jen Hamilton for introducing me to Caitlyn’s content 🄰 I am obsessed!

Cw: pregnancy. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to share this pregnancy, but I am expecting a little one next month. This news doesn’t always come with a shiny, joyful reception in EDS spaces, especially with a social media following outside of those I know IRL. I am excited for this new chapter! And want to share a few parts of my heart in the silence these last several months.

Maybe it’s because my body has changed so much this pregnancy it’s hard to think about putting photos on ā€œthe grid.ā€

Maybe it’s the endless chasing of my toddler while simultaneously growing new life. If you have sent emails and never heard back or I’m late on responding about projects (so many of these!) - I sincerely apologize.

Maybe it’s the lack of ā€œcute bump picsā€ and social-media worthy inspo. This pregnancy has been challenging in unique ways and living with chronic illness means navigating unknowns around every corner. It means stepping into each day and new symptom, carefully navigating a balance of acceptance and cautious inquisition, working to avoid fear. I also want to share that several symptoms I had last time I was pregnant have been much easier this time around… as they say, each pregnancy is so different. But opening up to the world means a certain vulnerability that tends to let in fear.

Maybe it’s because last pregnancy I received messages of criticism and judgment around the genetic nature of EDS and my choices.

Note: this post will not be a place to ā€œtrauma bond,ā€ to share about all the complications others have had in pregnancy, or to judge anyone for conceiving with EDS. These decisions are personal and the risks both for mom and baby are so individualized.

This Mother’s Day, I want to recognize all the beautiful humans who serve a maternal role in this world. The aunties, grandmothers, friends. Those with or without children of their own. Those who have lost, who yearn for their own, and who support other moms in the exhausting work of mothering. This world is better because of women and the ways that we care for each other.

Thank you for sharing this space with me. And I’m exciting to be back posting more soon!
