SOUTH TUCSON: This morning I hit the streets and blessed 16 people with some McDonald’s breakfast sandwiches and some water. I also ran into two different people I’ve interviewed in the past. 🚨 CRIME UPDATE: Florida Set to Carry Out Ex*****on Today 🚨

Today at noon, the state of Florida is scheduled to execute 63-year-old James Robertson via lethal injection at Florida State Prison.

Robertson’s case has reignited intense debate surrounding the death penalty due to its highly unusual circumstances. In 2008, while serving a sentence for burglary and assault, Robertson strangled his cellmate, Frank Hart. He openly confessed to investigators that the attack was unprovoked and committed strictly because he wanted to be sentenced to death row rather than live out his days in prison.

Because Robertson actively demanded the death penalty and waived all of his final constitutional appeals, advocacy groups argue his case completely challenges the traditional idea that the death penalty acts as a crime deterrent.

A look inside Nancy Guthrie’s neighborhood at night.

In this clip from my recent livestream, I turn my headlights off twice to show you how pitch-black it really gets out there.

(Don't worry, I made sure no one was around before doing it!)

But watch how quickly that other car appears just seconds after I turn the lights back on.

It really makes me think.

On the night she was taken, a bright full moon illuminated these exact streets—a massive contrast to the absolute darkness you see here.

Did the suspect just get lucky in the shadows, or did that moonlight catch a vehicle that law enforcement isn't telling us about yet?

Wasn’t gonna upload this, but it’s a massive reminder to stay ready out there.

Driving at night in Tucson is no joke—someone in a wheelchair used the crosswalk but didn’t wait for the light, and my chat almost witnessed a disaster in real time. Thank God for quick reflexes.
