Meet Scott Devinney, DO, board-certified orthopedic surgeon at the UT Health East Texas Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute in Tyler.

As an orthopedic surgeon, he enjoys the technical aspects of his profession but thrives on the rewards of interacting with his patients. “I gain the greatest satisfaction from helping people return to their regular activities and improving their quality of life. It’s very rewarding to allow them to do the things they enjoy.” When Dr. Devinney was in college, he suffered a basketball injury that resulted in surgery. That experience inspired him to become a physician.

Dr. Devinney earned his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and his doctor of osteopathic medicine from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. At Tampa General Hospital in Florida, he completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship and a shoulder and elbow fellowship.
