If your child is in the “why” phase, it can feel like you’re answering questions from sunrise to bedtime. But all of those “why” questions are actually a sign of something important happening in the brain!

Young children are learning that other people have knowledge they can access, while also building language, reasoning, curiosity, and theory of mind. As tempting as it is to give a quick answer and move on, sometimes the most powerful response is, “What do you think?”

When we wonder with children instead of only answering them, we help turn curiosity into deeper thinking 💡🧠

When “gentle” turns into permissive, kids can miss out on something really important: clear, consistent boundaries.

From a brain perspective, structure helps build regulation, safety, and predictability. Without it, things can feel confusing (for both kids and parents). The goal is balance!

I’m curious what you think! How do you approach gentle parenting? 🩵

My thoughts on “gentle parenting”… 🧠

It’s become more popular, and in many ways, it makes sense. A lot of it feels like a response to how many of us were raised.

But like most things, there’s a middle ground. Keep an eye out for Part II!

Neurons may get most of the spotlight, but they don’t work alone 🧠

Glial cells are the brain’s hidden support system, helping maintain balance, speed up communication, protect neural tissue, and support recovery. From myelin to immune defense, these cells play a critical role in how the brain functions every day.
