Sometimes, the moments we remember most aren't the ones we plan they're the ones shared with others.
A song sung together. A smile during a craft activity. A meaningful conversation. Time spent reading, playing, praying, or simply sitting beside someone. These are the moments that remind us how powerful human connection can be.
This July 2026, the Highways and Hedges mission brought together a 19-person team from Ohio, Virginia, Florida, and Puerto Rico, including volunteers from Hi-5 ABA, 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽, 𝗖𝗗𝗙𝗜, 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗘𝗣𝗖, and other dedicated supporters. Together, we had the privilege of serving alongside a community supporting more than 90 residents with disabilities and approximately 50 caregivers in Jamaica.
While volunteers built meaningful relationships with residents through everyday moments of connection, 𝗞𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 and 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗲 from Silver Lining Group partnered with caregivers and teachers to share practical strategies, create sensory tools, and model supportive approaches that will continue making a difference long after the mission.
What made this experience so meaningful wasn't simply what we did it was who we did it with. Every shared moment reflected the power of partnership, compassion, dignity, and a commitment to learning from one another.
To every volunteer, caregiver, teacher, partner organization, and local community member thank you for welcoming us, working alongside us, and reminding us that lasting impact is built together.
Please join us in thanking everyone who made this mission possible and especially the caregivers and teachers whose dedication continues every single day.
