Disney dining with kids sometimes requires less “vacation foodie” and more “please eat this snack before we enter crisis territory.” 😂🏰

Between the heat, crowds, excitement, unfamiliar foods, and waiting, your child’s usual hunger cues can be a lot harder to notice until they’re already DONE.

A little planning goes a long way. Check menus ahead of time, keep a familiar food in your bag, use mobile ordering when you can, and offer food and water before anyone reaches the point of no return.

And remember, Disney does not have to be the day your selective eater suddenly becomes adventurous. Fed, hydrated, regulated, and enjoying the park is a win. 💚

Save this for your next Disney trip!

Your child might know exactly what’s in their lunchbox, but do they know how to actually get to it? 😅🥪

A few minutes of practice at home can make a big difference when they’re sitting in a busy cafeteria without you there to help.

Hand them their lunchbox exactly how you’d pack it for school and let them give it a try. Notice what’s easy and what needs a little more practice. No pressure, no correcting every little thing, just a chance to build confidence before they have to do it on their own.

Five minutes tonight could make tomorrow’s lunch feel a whole lot easier. 💚

Save this and try the **5-minute lunchbox test** after school!

Before you completely redo the lunchbox tomorrow, it might be worth asking a different question. 👀

School lunch is a LOT. There’s noise, friends, a time limit, unfamiliar routines, containers to open, food to unwrap, and approximately 400 things happening around them at once. 😅

So when that lunch comes home barely touched, the food itself might only be one piece of the puzzle.

Try practicing the whole lunch routine at home, not just choosing what goes inside. Can they open everything? Do they know what to eat first? Can they manage it independently? Those little skills can make lunchtime feel much more doable.

And if mealtimes are feeling tricky beyond the lunchbox, our **FREE Mealtime Success Guide** has more OT-informed strategies you can try at home. Grab it through the link in our bio. 💚

What a joy it is to spend your days helping little people discover just how capable they are. 💚

A little behind the scenes of what that joy actually looks like around here, lots of playing, laughing, problem-solving, celebrating the little wins, and occasionally wondering how this gets to be our job. 🥹

The activities may look simple, but getting to watch confidence grow in real time never gets old.

We really do have the best job. ✨

The goal of therapy was never to make your family feel like you need us forever. 💚

We want you to leave sessions understanding your child a little better, knowing *why* something might be hard, and feeling confident about what you can try when real life happens.

Because we might see your child for an hour, but you’re there for the mornings, the meals, the transitions, the Target runs, and all the little moments in between.

When parents have the tools too, progress has a chance to keep going long after we leave.

That’s a big part of The Empower Method, and how we *Spark Possibility* every day. ✨

If you’ve ever gotten halfway through a Disney queue and realized your kid is DONE, you know there’s not always an easy exit button. 😅🏰

That’s why we’re big fans of getting ahead of sensory overwhelm instead of waiting for it to show up. The headphones, snack, fidget, or cooling break might seem small, but using them early can help your child stay regulated long enough to actually enjoy the magic you came for.

And because Disney with a sensory kid comes with approximately 47 other things to think about, we put our favorite tips into one place. 💚

There are a few things I will probably never stop saying as a pediatric OT. 😅

Sensory support goes way beyond the sensory aisle at Target. Behavior gives us clues about what a child might be experiencing. And play isn’t a break from the “real work.” For kids, it IS the work.

And parents? You should never feel like a passenger in your child’s therapy. We might get one hour with your child out of 168 in a week. Helping you understand the why, recognize what we’re seeing, and use strategies in everyday life is a huge part of what makes therapy actually carry over.

Most importantly, if something about your child’s development has you concerned, you deserve more than “let’s just wait and see.” Getting curious, asking questions, and seeking support doesn’t mean something is wrong. It means we’re paying attention.

These are a few of the beliefs behind how we do things at Empower Kids, and they’re hills we’re pretty comfortable staying on. 💚

Which one would you add to the list?

Sometimes the things making your day feel harder are the exact things we want to hear about.

The 20-minute battle over getting dressed. The lunchbox that comes home untouched. The meltdown when plans change. The task you *know* they can do, but somehow still requires you every single time.

Those moments give us clues about what’s happening underneath, and they’re a huge part of what occupational therapy can support. 💚

And if the mealtime slide felt a little *too* familiar, we have a free **Mealtime Success Guide** in our bio with practical strategies you can try at home. No pressure, just another resource for your parenting toolbox.

The first week of school always gives us a little peek at what all that summer practice was really building toward. 🥹💚

Maybe your child opened their lunchbox without help, handled a transition that used to feel really hard, got through the morning routine with less support, or came home feeling more regulated than you expected.

Those are the updates we LOVE getting.

Progress doesn’t always look huge while you’re in the middle of working on it. Then one day, they do the thing that used to be hard, and you realize just how far they’ve come.

Parents, **tell us your first-week win!** Big, small, or somewhere in between, we want to celebrate it with you. 🎒💚

Therapy doesn’t have to happen in one specific room to make a difference. 💚

At Empower Kids, we believe in meeting your child where real life happens, whether that’s at home, out in the community, or in our clinic.

Because the goal isn’t just to build skills during a therapy session. It’s helping your child feel more confident, capable, and independent in the places they live, learn, and play every day.

Wherever you are, we’re here to spark possibility. ✨
