High Note Counseling

High Note Counseling Christine Kotlarski is a Holistic Psychotherapist providing in person counseling in South Sarasota County and virtual sessions throughout FL and PA.

I provide tele-mental health services to teens and adults in the states of Pennsylvania and Florida & in person sessions are available in my Sarasota office. My style is authentic, compassionate, and intuitive. My approach is holistic, sex positive and integrative. I specialize in helping clients navigate life transitions big and small. These include self-discovery & growth, academic & career choi

ces, relationships, identity exploration and transition, illness and wellness, preparing to welcome a child or preparing for the farewell associated with the dying process...and everything in between. Sometimes we get stuck along the way by things like depression, anxiety, stress, traumatic events, and fear. Together we create opportunities for these stuck parts to heal and release. Holding the high note has a special meaning for me. It has become a guiding force in my life and I would love to share that with you! This is why High Note Counseling was born. If you use astrology, numerology, tarot cards, or intuitive readings in your approach to life, you are in the right place! If you follow the moon cycles and meditate with crystals, I speak your language and will hold space for your beliefs in our sessions. I have found blending the worlds of psychology and the metaphysical to be a natural approach to deeper understanding and healing If that's not your jam, don't worry! I tailor all sessions to your unique needs. I work with clients who are in traditional and alternative lifestyle relationships. I have experience supporting transgender clients through all phases of their transition journey.

Finding a therapist, or any other medical provider who is a true ally, is an added burden for the LGBTQ+ community- and sometimes a barrier to beginning treatment. You are safe with me! And if I’m not the right therapist for you- I will provide you with a referral to a therapist who specializes in what you need and who is also an ally. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

It’s the voice that says-other people have it worse, I shouldn’t complain.

It’s the fear of what it means about you if you need help.

It’s not knowing where to start, or having tried once and it wasn’t a good fit, or the cost, or the wait lists, or the very real exhaustion of having to explain your whole life to a stranger.

These are real barriers. And they deserve to be named, not minimized.

But I also want to name this-the story that you’re not struggling “enough” to deserve support- is bu****it! That story has kept a lot of people suffering alone for a long time.

You do not need to earn the right to get help. Severity is not the price of admission.

If you’ve been waiting until things get bad enough, this is me telling you they’re already bad enough. The fact that you’re thinking about it is enough.

Starting small counts. A journal. A conversation. A single phone call. It counts.

(Speaking of starting small, the link in my bio has a free journal to help you begin. No pressure, no intake forms. Just a place to start.)

Have you ever thought about the cost of “fine”? How long have you been telling the people in your life that you’re just fine? This one’s worth sharing, someone in your life needs to hear this. 💜 EmotionalHealth MentalHealthAwareness

Let’s clear something up.

Therapy is not just for people who’ve hit rock bottom. It’s not lying on a couch talking about your childhood for years. It’s not complaining to someone who nods and says “how does that make you feel?”

And it is absolutely not a sign that something is permanently wrong with you.

Therapy is a space where you get to be honest, sometimes for the first time, about what’s actually going on inside. It’s where patterns get named, where old wounds stop running the show, where you figure out who you actually are underneath all the coping.

Some people come because of a crisis. Some come because they’re tired of feeling stuck. Some come because life is objectively fine and they still feel hollow, and they want to understand why.

All of those are valid reasons to walk through the door.

The version of therapy you’ve seen in movies and on Netflix is mostly wrong. The real thing is far less dramatic and far more useful.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and I want to start with something that doesn’t get said enough:

Needing support is not a character flaw.

We don’t tell people with diabetes to just “push through” and skip the insulin. We don’t tell someone with a broken leg to walk it off. But somehow, when it comes to mental health, the message so many people received was: suck it up & get over it. That message is wrong. And it has caused a lot of unnecessary suffering.

Therapy, support groups, journaling, medication, these are not signs that you couldn’t handle your life. They are signs that you’re taking your life seriously.

This month, I’ll be sharing some things I wish more people knew about mental health. Not clinical jargon. Just honest conversation.

Starting with this: you don’t have to be in crisis to deserve support. You just have to be human.
