Having ear pain after swimming, showers, sweating, or using earbuds? You may have otitis externa, also known as swimmer’s ear.
Common symptoms can include:
▫️ Ear pain or tenderness
▫️ Itching in the ear canal
▫️ Redness or swelling
▫️ Drainage/debris
▫️ Muffled hearing
This can happen when moisture gets trapped in the ear, allowing bacteria or fungus to grow. Frequent swimming, earbuds, hearing aids, or even aggressive cleaning with Q-tips can increase your risk.
Treatment may include:
✅ Prescription ear drops
✅ Keeping the ear and equiptment dry
✅ Avoiding irritation to the ear canal
