Clay County Medical Center (CCMC) is proud to announce that Kristen Srna, MSN, RN, has accepted the role of Director of Nursing and will begin serving the organization during the first week of June 2026.

Kristen joins CCMC with a strong background in nursing leadership spanning critical access hospitals, regional health systems, and women’s health services. She currently serves as Director of the Birth & Women’s Center at Ascension Via Christi, where she leads strategic initiatives focused on quality improvement, staff engagement, leadership development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

A passionate advocate for rural healthcare, Kristen has built her career around strengthening clinical teams, standardizing evidence-based care, and developing future healthcare leaders. Prior to her current role, she served as Obstetric Manager at Benefis Health System and as Inpatient Nurse Manager at Memorial Hospital.

“Kristen brings an incredible combination of leadership experience, operational knowledge, and passion for rural healthcare,” said CEO Austin Gillard. “Her commitment to quality care, team development, and collaboration makes her an outstanding fit for our organization and the communities we serve.”

Throughout her career, Kristen has led numerous quality and safety initiatives, implemented simulation-based leadership training, and partnered with healthcare and community organizations to improve patient outcomes. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kansas Wesleyan University.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to join CCMC and become part of a healthcare team that is deeply committed to serving rural communities,” Kristen said. “I look forward to building relationships with staff, providers, patients, and the community while continuing to support a culture focused on teamwork, excellence, and compassionate care.”

Smiles, teddy bears, and hands-on learning made this year’s Teddy Bear Clinics a huge success! 🧸❤️

We were excited to welcome kindergarten students for our 2026 Teddy Bear Clinics. From checkups and bandages to meeting healthcare professionals, the clinics gave kids a chance to learn that the hospital can be a safe and friendly place.

A very special THANK YOU to the Clay Center Elks Lodge for generously donating the teddy bears this year. Your support helped create lasting smiles and positive memories for our young patients!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s clinics possible! 🩺🐻

🧠💪 Men’s Health Matters 💪🧠

Men are significantly less likely than women to see a healthcare provider regularly and it shows in the numbers. Preventive care can help catch issues early and keep you feeling your best.

At Clay County Medical Center, our providers are here to support your health at every stage of life from wellness visits to managing ongoing concerns.

If it’s been a while since your last checkup, now is a great time to reconnect with a provider and get back on track.

Need help getting started? We’re here for you. 💙

Clay County Medical Center has been awarded $2.5 million through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Rural Health Transformation Program. 🏥

With this funding, CCMC will purchase the da Vinci 5 robotic surgical system to expand access to advanced, minimally invasive surgical care close to home.

This technology allows surgeons to perform procedures with greater precision and control, giving patients potential benefits like:
✔️ Smaller incisions
✔️ Less pain
✔️ Reduced risk of complications
✔️ Faster recovery times

The system will support a wide range of procedures in general surgery, gynecology, and urology, helping ensure patients can receive high-quality care without traveling out of the area.
