Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the 77 lives lost to drug overdose in Lorain County in 2025.

Each life had meaning. Each person had a story, a place in our community and people who continue to feel their absence. Today, we honor their memory and recognize the grief carried by all those affected by overdose loss.

We also stand with those living with substance use disorder, those working toward recovery and everyone supporting them along the way. By approaching substance use with compassion instead of judgment, we can help more people feel safe seeking the care and support they deserve.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988. In an immediate emergency or suspected overdose, call 911.

Today, we remember with compassion, support without judgment and hold hope for a future with fewer lives lost.

Our Dental team traded toothbrushes for baseballs during a fun evening with the Lake Erie Crushers! ⚾🦷

👋 Kayla Hardin, Assistant Dental Director, and Dr. Katarzyna Lach spent the night meeting fans, sharing information about LCH&D’s services and handing out a few goodies along the way.

Community events like this give our team a chance to step outside of the health center, connect with local families and help people learn more about the care available close to home. Of course, Kayla and Dr. Lach also made time to enjoy the game, and the fireworks were the perfect way to end the night! 🎆

Thank you to the Lake Erie Crushers for having us. We always love spending time in the community we’re proud to serve! 💜

🦷 Healthy smiles are built at home, and strong community partnerships help make sure families have the tools and information they need.

This morning, Lorain County Health & Dentistry delivered oral health bags to our community partners at Avon CRS. Each bag includes adult and child toothbrushes, full-size toothpaste, dental floss, an easy-to-follow guide on proper brushing, and information about accessing medical and dental care. 🪥

These bags are designed not only to support healthy habits at home, but also to help connect individuals and families with local healthcare services when they need them.

🥕🥦 Access to fresh, nutritious food is an important part of supporting overall health. Lorain County residents who meet the income guidelines may be eligible to receive fresh produce and other food items through LCCAA’s Produce Center.

LCCAA’s Produce Center is open to all residents of Lorain County living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

The center, on 10th Street behind LCCAA’s administrative headquarters, distributes fresh produce and other food items by appointment on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Pre-ordering is required and clients can order every week.
