Horses, healing and becoming who you were always meant to be. Hi! I'm Cheyenne, The Native Cowgirl.

Helping women reconnect with themselves, reclaim their lives and take back the reins. I am a multifaceted rural entrepreneur, a fifth-generation RanchHer, and proud to carry on the legacy of strong women in agriculture. My family and I raise draft-cross horses, and I am an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Tribe from Pine Ridge, South Dakota. Honoring my heritage, preserving ranch life, and celebrating the role of women in agriculture are at the heart of what I do. I believe in spreading positivity and inspiration wherever I can. My personal journey has been one of transformation - I lost over 100 pounds and have kept it off for nearly two years. Hello, November!🍂🍁

There’s something about this time of year that makes me slow down a little and reflect.

Not just on the things I’m thankful for, but on the things that have changed me.

The challenges I never saw coming.
The lessons I didn’t necessarily want to learn.
The people who have walked beside me.
And the strength I’ve discovered in myself along the way.

This year has stretched me in ways I never imagined. There have been moments of uncertainty, heartache, growth, and some pretty big changes.

But through it all, I’ve been reminded of something…

You can be grateful for the life you have and still be excited about the woman you’re becoming.💓

Those two things can exist together.

As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to encourage you to look beyond the obvious blessings.

Sometimes the greatest gifts come wrapped in the hardest lessons.

I’m entering November with a grateful heart, an open mind, and a whole lot of excitement for what’s ahead.

I’m still learning.
Still growing.
Still becoming.

And I’m thankful for every bit of it.🫶🏼

Tell me something…what’s ONE thing you’re grateful for as we begin November?

I’d love to hear it!

Thirty-one days ago, I started sharing a little more of my heart with you.

My life on the ranch. My love for horses. The lessons I’ve learned. And some of the changes happening in my own life.

What I haven’t shared much about is the dream that’s been quietly growing behind the scenes.

For seven years, I’ve had the privilege of helping women become healthier, stronger, and more confident through my wellness coaching.

And for my entire life, horses have been part of who I am.

Now, at 53, I’m preparing to bring those two passions together in a way that feels incredibly meaningful.

I’m looking forward to additional training and learning new ways to create experiences that encourage women to reconnect with themselves.

Because here’s something I believe with all my heart…

A woman can spend years taking care of everyone else and still have a beautiful part of herself waiting to be rediscovered. ❤️

I’ve been that woman.

And I’m still learning, growing, and figuring things out myself!

There’s a vision taking shape. One centered around women, horses, meaningful connections, personal growth, and the courage to create a life that feels like our own.

I’m not quite ready to share all the details, but I can tell you this…

I’m more excited about this next chapter than I’ve been about anything in a very long time!

And I can’t wait to bring you along for the ride.

As October comes to an end, I want to thank you for being here, reading my thoughts, sharing your stories, and encouraging me along the way.

This month has reminded me that we’re never too old to dream a new dream.

Not at 40. Not at 50. Not at 60 or beyond.

There’s still time to grow, change direction, rediscover ourselves, and create something wonderful.

And sometimes the most exciting chapters begin when we finally give ourselves permission to follow our hearts.

October may be ending, but something beautiful is just beginning. ❤️

Stay tuned, cowgirls. I have a feeling the best is yet to come!

Fall is a season of change here at the ranch.

The colts are weaned, the days are getting shorter, and we’re preparing for another Montana winter.

And as I watch our young horses begin a new stage of independence, I can’t help but think about the changes we go through as women.

Some changes are exciting. Others are uncomfortable.

And sometimes, even when we KNOW we’re ready for something different, part of us wants to hold on to what’s familiar.

I’ve been feeling a little of that myself lately.

I’m excited about the direction my life is taking, but I’d be lying if I said I haven’t had moments of uncertainty.

There are new things to learn, decisions to make, and dreams that are asking me to step outside what’s comfortable.

But here’s something I’ve realized…

We can’t keep adding to our lives without occasionally making room for what’s next.

Sometimes that means letting go of expectations we’ve placed on ourselves.

Sometimes it’s releasing the need to do everything perfectly.

And sometimes it’s accepting that the woman we are today may want different things than the woman we were ten years ago.

That doesn’t mean the years behind us weren’t meaningful.

It means we’ve GROWN. ❤️

I’ve spent 53 years becoming the woman I am today. I’m proud of her, imperfections and all.

But I’m also excited about the woman I’m still becoming!

Maybe that’s what this season is really about.

Not starting over.

Not leaving everything behind.

But taking the best of who we’ve been and making room for who we still want to become.

As October comes to a close, I’m grateful for this season of reflection, growth, and new possibilities.

There’s something pretty special about realizing that the reins have been in our hands all along.

We just have to decide where we want to ride next. 🐴❤️

There’s a reason we call two horses working together a TEAM.

When we hitch our draft horses to a wagon, it’s pretty amazing to watch what they can accomplish together.

Each horse brings its own strength, personality, and experience. But when they’re working together, something special happens.

They share the load.

And I’ve been thinking about that quite a bit lately.

As women, we’re often proud of being strong and independent. We figure things out, push through the hard days, and somehow manage to keep everything moving.

I’ve certainly been guilty of thinking I need to do it all myself!

But here’s something I’m learning at 53…

Being strong doesn’t mean you have to carry everything alone.

Sometimes strength looks like asking for help.

Sometimes it’s admitting you don’t have all the answers.

And sometimes it’s surrounding yourself with people who believe in you, encourage you, and remind you of what you’re capable of when you’ve temporarily forgotten.

I’m entering a season of learning, growing, and stepping into some unfamiliar territory.

And while I’m excited about the future, I’m also realizing just how important it is to have good people beside me.

That’s something I want to carry into the work I’m envisioning with women and horses.

I want women to feel encouraged to discover their own strength, but also to understand that they don’t have to figure everything out by themselves.

Because sometimes the most powerful thing another woman can say is…

“I see you. I believe in you. And I’m cheering you on.” ❤️

We need more of that in this world.

More encouragement. Less comparison.

More connection. Less competition.

More women genuinely celebrating other women.

After all, even the strongest horses can accomplish some pretty remarkable things when they learn to work together.

And I believe we can, too.

Here’s to the women who help us keep moving forward. May we never forget to be that woman for someone else. ❤️

Living on a ranch, you learn pretty quickly that gates matter.

Some need to stay open. Others need to stay closed. And sometimes you have to go back and check the ones you thought you already took care of! 😂

I’ve been thinking about how much that applies to life.

Especially for women who have spent years being everything to everybody.

We open our doors, our hearts, our schedules, and our lives to the needs of others.

And often, we do it without thinking twice.

But somewhere along the way, we can forget that we get to decide what we allow into our lives, too.

We can love people without saying yes to everything.

We can be generous without giving away every bit of our time.

We can care deeply about others while still making room for ourselves.

And we can change our minds about things that no longer feel right for the woman we’re becoming.

That’s something I’m learning in this season of my life.

At 53, I’m becoming more intentional about where I spend my time, what I give my energy to, and the things I want to pursue.

Not because I care less about others.

But because I’m finally understanding that my own dreams and well-being deserve a place in my life, too.

As I continue exploring this next chapter of working with women and horses, this is one of the conversations I’m especially looking forward to having.

How do we honor the people and responsibilities we love without losing ourselves in the process?

I don’t think there’s one perfect answer.

But I do believe we can learn to make choices that reflect what truly matters to us.

Sometimes taking the reins of your own life starts with deciding which gates you’re ready to open…and which ones you’re finally ready to close. ❤️

And remember, cowgirls…

It’s YOUR life. You’re allowed to have a say in how you live it.

After a lifetime of raising horses, I’ve learned that some of the most meaningful connections happen when you least expect them.

You can walk into a pasture with every intention of spending time with a particular horse, only to have another one quietly make its way toward you.

No treats. No halter. No expectations.

Just a horse choosing to be near you.

I love those moments.

There’s something pretty special about standing quietly with a 1,500-pound animal that doesn’t care about your accomplishments, your appearance, your age, or how many things you’ve checked off your to-do list.

You don’t have to impress them.

You just get to BE.

And maybe that’s why I’ve always felt so connected to horses.

They’ve been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but lately I’ve been looking at that connection through a different lens.

As I prepare to begin a new chapter of education focused on personal growth and working alongside horses, I find myself thinking about all the women who rarely have an opportunity to simply be themselves.

Not somebody’s wife.

Not somebody’s mother.

Not the business owner, caregiver, or person everyone depends on.

Just HER.

The woman underneath all those responsibilities.

The one who still has dreams, feelings, questions, and a whole lot of life left to live.

What would happen if we gave ourselves more opportunities to reconnect with that woman?

That’s a question close to my heart these days.

And it’s a big part of the vision I’m slowly bringing to life.

I don’t have all the answers, and I have plenty left to learn. But I know how much horses have enriched my own life, and I’m excited to explore how that connection might create meaningful opportunities for other women, too.

Sometimes the most beautiful things begin with a quiet moment in a pasture. ❤️

25/10/2026

Horses have taught me a lot over the years.

And one of the most valuable lessons has been learning to listen without hearing a single word.

A horse can tell you so much through its body language, its eyes, its movements, and even its silence.

But you have to be paying attention.

You can’t always walk into a pasture with your own agenda and expect a horse to follow along.

Sometimes you need to slow down, observe, and meet that horse right where it is.

I’ve been thinking about how much that applies to people, too.

Especially women.

So many of us spend our lives being the ones everyone else turns to. We’re the problem solvers, the caregivers, the encouragers, and the ones who hold everything together.

But sometimes we don’t need someone to fix anything for us.

Sometimes we just need someone to listen.

Someone who isn’t judging.

Someone who isn’t rushing us.

Someone who gives us room to figure out what we’re feeling and what we really want.

That’s one of the things I’m most excited about as I prepare for additional training and explore new ways to bring my love of horses and my passion for helping women together.

I’ve spent my life learning from horses, and I believe there’s something pretty special about the opportunity to slow down and connect with ourselves in their presence.

Not everything needs an immediate answer.

Not every conversation needs advice.

And not every quiet moment needs to be filled.

Sometimes being present is enough. ❤️

As I get older, I’m learning that listening is just as important as having something to say.

And that includes listening to myself.

I’ve been thinking lately about how differently I look at life now than I did twenty or thirty years ago.

When I was younger, I thought I needed to have everything figured out by a certain age.

A successful career. A family. A home. A plan for the future.

And somewhere along the way, I think it’s easy for us women to start believing that once we’ve checked those boxes, our job is simply to keep everything running.

But what about OUR dreams?

The ones we tucked away because life got busy.

The interests we never explored.

The things we’ve quietly wondered if we might be good at.

At 53, I’m discovering something pretty exciting…

I’m not finished becoming who I’m meant to be!

I still have things I want to learn. Places I want to go. People I want to meet. And dreams I’m finally giving myself permission to pursue.

Some of those dreams involve the horses I’ve loved my entire life and finding new ways to share that connection with other women.

And that makes me incredibly excited about the future!

I don’t see this season of my life as slowing down.

I see it as an opportunity to take everything I’ve learned, everything I’ve experienced, and everything I love…and do something meaningful with it.

Maybe that’s one of the greatest gifts of getting older.

We begin to understand that we don’t have to prove ourselves to everyone.

We can simply follow what makes our hearts happy.

So if there’s something you’ve been wanting to do, learn, or experience, I hope you’ll give yourself permission to explore it.

You’re not too old. You’re not too late. And your story is far from finished. ❤️

I have a feeling some of the best chapters are still waiting to be written.🫶🏼

There’s something about watching horses out in the pasture that makes me smile.

They graze when they’re hungry, rest when they’re tired, and enjoy a good roll in the dirt without giving it a second thought.

They certainly don’t seem worried about whether they’ve accomplished enough to deserve a break! 😂

Now, if only we women could learn a little something from that.

I’ve spent most of my life on a ranch, where there’s always work waiting. Horses to feed, chores to finish, fences to check, and a hundred other things that need attention.

And for years, I’ve carried that same work ethic into just about every part of my life.

Being busy can almost become part of our identity.

But lately, I’ve been asking myself something…

When did we start believing that our worth is measured by how much we get done?

We can work hard, love our families, chase our dreams, and still give ourselves permission to slow down.

We can take an afternoon for ourselves without feeling guilty.

We can say no to something without having to explain why.

And we can simply enjoy a quiet moment without thinking about what we should be doing next.

As I continue learning and preparing for this next chapter of helping women, I’m realizing how important it is to practice the very things I want to encourage in others.

Because taking care of ourselves isn’t something we should save for someday.

It’s part of living well TODAY.

So here’s your little reminder from this cowgirl…

You don’t have to earn your rest. You deserve it simply because you’re human. ❤️

The chores will still be there tomorrow. Trust me, I know! 😉

22/10/2026

If you’ve spent much time around horses, you know they have a way of keeping you humble!

You can have your entire day planned out, and then one of them decides they have a completely different agenda. 😂

That’s ranch life!

And after more than five decades of living it, I’ve learned that sometimes the best thing you can do is laugh, shake your head, and carry on.

I’ve been thinking about how easy it is for us women to get so caught up in our responsibilities that we forget to enjoy ourselves.

We’re busy taking care of families, running businesses, keeping up with everything that needs to be done, and trying to make everyone else’s lives a little easier.

Somewhere along the way, FUN can become something we save for when everything else is finished.

But here’s the thing…

The work is never really finished!

There’s always another chore, another responsibility, another item on that never-ending to-do list.

And life is happening right now.

One thing I want more of in this next chapter of my life is laughter. More spontaneous moments. More time doing things simply because they make me happy.

Not because they’re productive.

Not because they’re expected.

But because they bring me JOY.

I think we all deserve a little more of that, don’t you?

So today, here’s your reminder to do something that makes you smile.

And if all else fails, spend a little time around a curious horse. They’ll usually give you something to laugh about! 😂❤️
