The energy of Rama japa (mantra repetition) and other similar japa purifies wherever it reaches. The energy keeps negative influences away. The immediate effect of japa is that it keeps us free from worry; it increases energy in the body and gives peace. By regular japa, negative thoughts are gradually destroyed. Even a wicked person is transformed through japa, and he improves.
